  1. Great post. I would add:

    1) Checking version of DX – using dxdiag to check the version on system tab
    2) making sure that 10_0 is supported in the dxdiag tool. Display tab under feature levels – you should see that.
    3) Display driver properties may say that driver “reres further installation” i.e. “Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&SUBSYS_04DA1028&REV_09\3&11583659&0&10 requires further installation”. Likely an older Windows driver not meant for Win 10.
    4) if all of the above fails, your GPU is likely too old to support the game
