Azureus/Vuze:
“Veze has best bandwidth management … “: typo: Veze should be Vuze
And: Azureus/Vuze does IPv6, which is not mentioned.
HTH
ANTs p2p is a great anonymous p2p file sharing program but it can sometimes be slow.
Dargens p2p is a mod of ANts p2p that makes it download faster while still being anonymous.
Goals of Dargens
The aim of the system is to spread information to those who find it difficult to access information freely.
It has been designed (STUNT and SSL spoofing) to penetrate national censorship system such as the great fire wall of China.
However, it is not meant to circumvent national laws but to give privacy to responsible adult users which is a right we take for granted in the physical world but which is diminishing in the virtual world.
We are all connected, if not directly then via friends of friends of friends etc. It has been prooved both theoretically and experimentally that everyone in Europe and North America are connected by a maximum of six steps.
This is how Dargens p2p works all nodes are connected but not randomly. They are connected like a social network a society. So path lengths are short and everybody can download and upload from everybody else.
And as it is ANts p2p (only change is network topology) it is anonymous.
And as to the single point of failure. I agree there is a single point of failure but it is open source (including the website) so it is like bit torrent. Sure they can kill a few trackers but they will never kill them all.
Lastly by being web based allows the featured files to be quality checked. So now you can download quality files anonymously. Of course you still have the ability to search and download like limwire etc again anonymously.
Nothing is 100% anonymous; this is safe enough to prevent snoopers from knowing what you’re downloading without slowing downloads.
Go on download a file.

My fav ones are utorrent, Limewire, Gnutella.
bearshare imo is the worst. about 50% of the files are spyware/trojan downloaders… that’s a good list btw man. you have them almost all there!
nice effort buddy..
good work
Surprised that Azureus and uTorrent are so low in your list. I mean, these two are most popular torrent clients. Besides, the official BiTTorrent is now based on uTorrent anyway.
It’s a shame that the anonymous clients are mentioned so little in that list. The only one is ANts, which seems to be abandoned by the developer. In times of increasing surveillance by the music and film industry, anonymous file sharing will become more and more important.
A very promising program seems to be Stealthnet; it also seems to be one of the most secure.
Hey!! This is good!!!! I FINALLY FOUND SOMETHING NOT LIMWIRE ALLLL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!! I LUV U WEBSITE!!
i have used all kind of p2p software till now but the best is bittorent.good download speed.
Utorrent for torrent
Limewire Pro for direct P2P (good to download Quick mp3’s quickly) beware of malwares and spywares on limewire, Make sure you have a good Antivirus
woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
gracias
Done!!
For file searching, I used only Limewire (free of charge) – Now I learned very much of P2P –
Thnx,
A. Samad
I wonder who else would agree with your description of Emule. I find that almost every file I download has some type of malware. Either my system is corrupting the dowloaded files or your article does not tell the full story.
I’d sure like to know other peoples experiences.
P2P file sharing application is mainly used for downloading and uploading files like music, videos, softwares, games, mp3 tunes, photos and many more. I have been using Shareaza and FastestP2P for downloading.
for me.. the BesT 2 P2P are… LIMEWIRE & uTORRENT…..
They say some are Mac OSX dedicated but every file I download is an .exe that my Mac opens as a page of symbols.. any advice for a rookie?
In my opinion, I think the best ones are the free and open source ones because they’re are trustworthy and there can be nothing to worry about the “things” people download. For my Windows XP I chose Shareaza and Deluge because Deluge is lighter than Azureus and open source compared to utorrent and Shareaza can connect to emule server and gnutella. For my Ubuntu Linux, I chose Transmission because it came with the OS and amule because it was the only choice in synaptic manager.
common ARES is wayyyyyyyyyyy better than LIMEWIRE!!
also utorrent/bittorrent or whatever..they’re all the same..it’s not like we’re downloading from that client..it’s from several torrent sites..however utorrent should be on the top..and most torrent sites banned other clients except for utorrent and azureus..i’m not saying im 100% right..but thats how i feel..however nice work for putting up this site..
AGREE,
ARES is THE BEST

I’ve been using emule for well over a year and a half now with over 100 gigs downloaded and not one file infested with malware or spyware. There are still a few good ed2k links sites in existence that I suggest you use. I’ve also had no problems with emule’s search function and cross-referencing file sizes with either BT sites or just using ed2k link sites grantees a legit download. The network has a much wider variety of movie and music files than most BT sites I’ve used and the large amount of HD and non-HD bluray rips to choose from, free or everybody, puts the network at the top of my list. The only downside in using emule is that the speeds are almost never greater than 150 kb/s and usually hover around 10-60 kb/s. For me personally, this is not a problem since I stockpile instead of watching immediately.
Kazaa Kazaa Lite iMesh BearShare Ares and Morpheus all keep computer repair companies in business with spyware removal. Thanks for supporting local businesses!
hi there, its been many yrs ive been using p2p software, infact since yr 90’s!!! its my passion downloading music.
concerning speed of download it depends on 1st software, 2nd network bandwidth(for both client,ie uploading and downloading.) it also depends on the number of peers u r downloading from..
The best software doesnt only mean download speed, always remember if u want great download speed u must have great upload speed too..as p2p works by uploading from other clients.
try searching rare files e.g for rare mp3 files are ( Dow jones-just a techno groove,, avion de nuitagatha de co,, hobby one-everybody movin’up,, passion-toujour envie d’elle,,Docteur jones l’explorateur….) these are mp3 files that are rare to find.. personally ive use most of the mentioned p2p, for best result use Emule, for quick use Limewire..but limewire is not as in the early 2000’s,so beware..
Torrent i use bitcomet/utorrent/rarely vuze as it takes too much memory, what i apreciate with torrent is that i can select mp3’s/ files to download from huge files… coz sometime one needs only a readme file from a 1 gig file!!that’s the best of torrent files..
in general i use web like filespump/rapidlibrary/4shared.. files that i dnt find i use Emule/limewire… till now ive download many many many Gig of Mp3 and sincerly ive got 99.9% of music ive searched from yr 70’s to latest techno..
sorry for ortho err, im from mauritius island and our native language in not english :D
Amazed to see Kazaa in the list. I think it is the black list.
dude limewire is shit its full of viruses why is it no2 wth
hey ares is also my favorite
The link for Shareaza (www.shareaza.com) is not the legit website address, as stated in the official homepage (shareaza.sourceforge.net) the website had recently been overtaken by hackers – in which the fake version for download (version 6.0) contain viruses.. the real legit version at SourceForge is 2.4 is you follow Shareaza version history.
Do not download from Shareaza.com – instead: shareaza.sourceforge.net
Also, in addition to my comment below, please revise the following for confirmation on this issue:

BearShare sold out to iMesh in the Summer of 2006 or so as part of their settlement with the music industry. Any BearShare installer downloaded since is based on iMesh re-skinned to look like the old BearShare.
Morpheus is dead. It should rank at the bottom. StreamCast (publishers of Morpheus) went bankrupt after its legal troubles with the recording industry.
The old BearShare should definitely rank above Shareaza, but the new BearShare should rank down at the bottom, only ahead of Morpheus.
You should mention that LimeWire supports both the Bittorrent and Gnutella protocols.
I can understand the grammar mistakes, as you’re probably not a native speaker. However, the terrible spelling is harder to dismiss. A spelling check before publishing wouldn’t kill you, would it? Have pride in your work and some personal standards that have to be met before slapping your name on something.
Limewire always looses the network and ares has a low quality of music i try frostwire and is the same exact thing as limewire. Can somebody help me choose what p2p user can i use? I am downloding imesh can somebody tell me a description of it?
The link to Shareaza website should be changed! It’s NOT the real website! Don’t you people learn!? Search the internet about it!
Even the download link – It points to the wrong download. It’s dangerous. I dare you to download the fake Shareaza and use it!
Note, also: Users that have Trend Micro installed will notice that the website, and download link, aren’t accessible as the website is blocked and classified “dangerous”. See, Trend Micro caught on to it, so why not everyone else? Please change the link. For some reason it really bothers me.
Okay, let’s just say a few ten thousand people are wrong, and it was the so called “real, no spyware, no adware, 100% free” version – which Shareaza has never used those words in ANY of their distributions – if it was “real”.. Why would such a program jump from version 2.x to version 4.. And to this date (2 months later).. Version 6? It’s not right. This link needs to be changed.
Also, to add to my comment. Download.com is a trusted site by millions of people. Search for Shareaza…What comes up? The REAL LEGIT VERSION (version 2.4.0) which links to: http://shareaza.sourceforge.net
Please see for yourself:
http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=shareaza&tag=srch&searchtype=downloads&filterName=platform%3DWindows&filter=platform%3DWindows
Also, check out SiteAdvisor, Shareaza.com has a really bad rating – mostly compiled with the comments of “FAKE” and “HIJACKED DOMAIN”.
Please let people know. This is a serious matter.
Forgot some of the Japanese P2P (I am into anime so I use them alot).

Winny
Only bad thing with these programs is they can be difficult to set up and it REQUIRES you to have 20-40GB of space set aside for uploads.
Ahh, very sad to see uTorrent at 17th place.
I consider that utorrent shud be placed in the first position given the simple interface and advanced features and reliability of it.
