The iPad is now available for everyone to buy. Very soon we will be seeing applications for the device that enhance its features in ways other than it was designed for. Of course there are already more than a hundred iPad applications available at Apple’s iPad Store but in the upcoming months we will be seeing how third party developers put their creativity to use and increase the ways we can benefit from the iPad.
One of the ways in which third party developers will be improving iPads is the way we read ebooks on it. I made this prediction based on the news that there is going to be a Kindle application available for iPad. I hope all my readers know what Kindle is; if you do not, it is Amazon’s ebook reading device.
We had all heard of the upcoming Kindle plus iPad combination but due to Apple’s track record of not supporting competitive applications we had dismissed these ‘rumors.’ The Kindle application and the users’ ability to purchase ebooks via Amazon on the iPad will be a direct competition for Apple. This is why I and countless other bloggers thought why the Kindle application for iPad will not materialize. However I am glad that we were all wrong.
Not only is there a Kindle application for iPad but it is reported to look and feel a lot better than the actual Kindle. Here is what the application looks like:

With iPad’s feel, ebook reading has been more convenient. This will definitely shift more users from the Kindle to the iPad but this also means that more users will buy more ebooks via Amazon on the Kindle applicaiton.
It seems to me that Apple and Amazon are both in a win-win situation.
