
Today at MIX 2010 Microsoft has demoed couple of interesting features and app for its Windows Phone 7 Series. Microsoft has also started allowing downloading development tools for Windows Phone 7. This is just another strategy from Microsoft to engage developers for developing applications for Windows Phone 7.
Windows Phone 7 Series based mobile phones are due for Christmas 2010 that means for next 8 months we won’t see any phone. Many users want to know whether their Windows Mobile Phone will get Windows Phone 7 Series as an upgrade or not.
Unfortunately rumors say even recently released HTC HD2 won’t get Windows Phone 7 as an upgrade. Well there is no reason to lose your hopes, we have excellent developers community at XDA forums.
Here first sign of XDA community looking forward to Windows Phone 7 Series is, They have acquired a code dump of the Windows Phone 7 operating system meaning fist Windows Phone 7 Series ROM is leaked and available for download. Thanks to l2tp XDA forum member.
The ROM has been extracted from device emulator image provided by Microsoft. Though this can’t be ported to any devices and will only work on PCs.
XDA-developers forum members have plenty of time to dissect the OS and determine how best to tweak it to suit their needs. Discussions surrounding app distribution outside of the Windows Phone Marketplace and background process support for third-party apps are already in full swing.
