Android 2.1 Leaked for HTC Droid Eris

Recently we had posted about leaked Android 1.6 donut update for Samsung Galaxy users. Now here is HTC Sense 2.1 Android for HTC Droid Eris. Droid Eris users already knew that they are getting Android 2.1 with new HTC Sense interface very soon but may not be untill Q2 2010. Anyways the leaked Android 2.1 for Droid Eris is here & confirmed to be original and working.

How to Flash Android 2.1 HTC Sense on Droid Eris

1. Get the patched 2.1 Rom here using below links

2. Place PB00IMG.zip onto your phones SD card

3. Make sure phone is off then hold Power button and Call Button.

4. The menu opens quickly press the power key over the hboot option.

5. Follow onscreen instructions to install the update. the phone will reboot a few times.

Notes: The phone will wipe all user data the sd card is untouched, i made a backup for safety purposes.

    Used this to update my HTC Eris…took 15 minutes and I was back up and running. Def. recommend doing this alot more functionality and and the new UI is stellar!!

    I see many people updating to a rooted version and/or the leaked version of Android 2.1 for Eris. The question is what works and does not work? Are all of the quirks out of this thing yet? I am not looking to brick my phone and void Verizon support, but Verizon appears to be dragging their feet a bit and it is becoming seriously frustrating.

    once it is downloaded how do you save it to the sd card??

    You just plug it in to your pc usb and mount it. This is very basic, if you didn’t know how to do this maybe you should not be attempting to upgrade your phone.

    didn’t work ..i pressed the volume down and it started the update. How about for you?

    1. place the PB00IMG.zip in the root of your sdcard (DONT UNZIP PB00IMG.zip)

    2. back up all important data contacts synced with google will transfer over when you sign into your google account.

    3. shut down phone

    4. start phone with “power+volume down” at the same time

    5. let it load the PB00IMG.zip

    6. when it asks to press action to update it means press trackball center or power key quickly.

    7. it will take <10 minutes to boot the first time

    8. go through the google setup wizard as usual and ENJOY

    9. If there are any problems after the update process such as sense not working or HTC widgets missing,

    OMG. I have been waiting for Google Maps with Navigation. I tried this, is was easy and works great… So excited.

    definitely worth it, makes my eris run a hell of a lot better.
    no worries about downloading without an ota option, its pretty easy

    I just got droid eris and i barely know about it. How do I do the back up??

    This fix works very well – at least, the install part (Haven’t had it for more than a day, so can’t really comment on how 2.1 is better, yet). I feel overall the OS is evolved and slightly faster. Granted that i have not put the additional software that I used to have on this machine. Very neat, little innovations have crept into 2.1 which is very cool (direct dial, direct email,Power gadget, different clocks etc). The navigation is really nice. My main gripe with HTC Eris (with 1.5) was the battery. Hoping it will get better.

    Note on multiple Install Instructions:
    Mickey here wrote a different set of install instructions. Power + Vol down gave me a weird icon and the machine would not boot up. I removed the battery and rebooted the phone and then pressed Power + Phone (Red & Green) buttons and it worked.Thanks for posting this…

    not sure what the deal is with the difference in the vol down button or the snd button but i had to use the end button and the vol down or i got that wierd icon sg got with the vol down and pwr button….either way hope this works…..in progress not

    wow….this thing is amazing now….no problems…verizon just wants to make more money by only putting this on the newer phones…..all i have to say is thank you to whatever hacker got this

    i did this root two weeks ago and i broke my eris and got a new one and i am gettting the update later on with my new eris and i will nevver root my phone ever agin…. yall shouldnt not worth it….
