This tool does not allow HD video downloads as you mentioned.
The iPlayer downloader just makes iPlayer to think that the download is being done to a portable device, and hence the file output is just a .mov file, which is of inferior quality
iPlayer Downloader, by the nature of the way it works, is only able to download the low-resolution versions of programmes that were intended for playback on the small screen of an iPhone. While these are perfectly adequate for many purposes, it is misleading and incorrect to call them high definition.
(The pixel resolution is roughly akin to an “HQ” video on YouTube, for comparison, though is probably of better quality overall since it is straight from the BBC and not the typical muddy-looking fifth-generation copy that you’d expect to find on YouTube.)
Is there any way to ‘grab’ the videos in the same quality that you watch them in online? or is there another program that enables this?
