Apple to Replace iPads with Dead Batteries for $99

An interesting piece of news today coming from iPad: Frequently Asked Questions page on Apple.com addressing “Battery Replacement Service” for the device. Since we all expected the process of having Apple replace a battery on the iPad to be much like with the iPhone, we were quite surprised to learn that it seems Apple will replace the entire device for a service free of $99 rather than just service it. This means you will have to make sure you back up your data before sending it away for a week to be replaced, with what might possibly be a refurbished device.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 DLC/Map pack Details

We have a little bit more information about the first DLC/map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 titled the Stimulus Package as details were posted on the Xbox Live Marketplace website earlier today. The map pack will initially only be available to Xbox 360 owners but will also be released on PS3 and PC sometime in the near future. Windows 95 Running on HTC HD2

In past we have seen Nokia N900 Maemo phone hacked to run Windows 95, Mac OS X and Android in dual boot mode. Similarly Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 was dual booted to run Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04. Now here is yet another achievement from smartphone hackers, Windows 95 is successfully ported tp HTC HD2.

Thanks to the folks over XDA forum where they have managed to install and run Windows 95 on HTC HD2 using QEMU virtual machine emulator. Below is a demo video showing a pretty functional Windows 95 running in VGA mode on the Qemu processor emulator. Read More…

Opera Mini Beta for iPhone Weeks Away?

According to CNN reporting from the SXSW, the Opera browser is weeks away from submiting a browser to Apple’s App Store for approval. The Norwegian company, Opera, known for making a fast browser for various platforms is putting the finishing touches on it iPhone based browser.  According to the company the browser could be up to 6 times faster than Apple’s Safari browser.  It remains to be seen if Apple will finally approve an app, that closely mimics there own web browser.  Read More…

Apple Passes Wal-Mart and Becomes the 3rd most Valuable Company- Still doesn’t come close to Microsoft

Apple has officially knocked Wal-Mart out of the number three position as the most valuable company in the United States after their Apple Inc. shares are currently up $1.21 or 0.54% per share to $226.71, MacDailyNews reports. To put this in perspective, Apple’s market value, as of this morning’s NASDAQ trading, is up to US$205.58 billion in comparison to Wal-Mart’s US$205.31 billion.
