In the recent Facebook F8 conference, the social giant made its Messenger’s API available for third party developers and a bunch of supported apps has been introduced along with that. Today, we are going to discuss about one of the newly launched apps called “GIPHY”, which lets you post GIF images while you are chatting with your friends. If you have used GIF keyboard from Riffsy in iOS devices, the UI and options will look familiar to you. Previously, GIPHY was available as a web app to post GIF images on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.
As of now, GIPHY is available for iOS and Android devices. You can download the app using the link at the end of this post and GIPHY will be installed as a separate app on your device. When you open the app, you will see a window as shown in the screenshot above. There will be four different categories and a search box on the top of the window.
The last two options “Reactions” and “Explore” are the repository of GIF images organized into different categories. In the “Reactions” section, you will find GIF images for different expressions like Hello, OMG, LOL, etc.. Explore will contain GIF images in various categories like Gaming, Celebrities, Movies, Sports, etc.. It helps you to quickly find the GIF animations while you chat with your friends.
Accessing the app from the Facebook messenger is pretty simple. Below the “Write Message” text box there will be a set of options to open camera, add images, stickers, etc.. The last menu option (three vertical dots) over there is newly added in the messenger for image search and accessing third party apps. GIPHY will be available in that menu and you can quickly access from the Chat box.
If you are a regular user of Facebook Messenger, GIPHY is worth giving a try. Try this app in your Smartphone and share your views about GIPHY in the comments. Thanks for reading, do share this post with your friends.
