Step 1: At first open the Run dialogue box by pressing the Windows logo key + R on your keyboard.

Step 2: Now, on the search field type “regedit.exe” and hit the Enter button.

Step 3: As the Registry Editor window opens, proceed with the following path- “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate”

Note: You will have to create the WindowsUpdate key if it is not already present there. To do this,

  • Right-click on the Windows folder and select “New > Key”.

Step 4: Now on the left pane window locate the entry for WindowsUpdate named as “AU”.

Notice: You can create “AU” if it doesn’t already exist. Follow the same “New > Key” method that we have mentioned above.

Step 6: After that, save the entry as “NoAutoUpdate” and double-click on it

Step 7: Now, change the value for this newly-created DWORD to1

Step 8: Then, select OK . It will save the changes you made.

Step 9: Finally, exit Registry Editor and the Windows Auto update is permanently stopped on your Windows 11 computer.
