Quickly Fix Hulu Keeps Logging Me Out Issue

Hulu Subtitles Not Working

Hulu is a video streaming service with which you can watch TV shows in your application or browser. However, the Windows 10 Hulu application does not always work, as some users claim that the app automatically logs out the users. Hulu streaming errors are not uncommon for Windows devices and sometimes on Android devices, as well. If the same problem is happening with you as well, make sure you check out all the fixes provided in this article.

Hulu Automatic Logout Error

When Hulu stops working, error messages are not always so helpful. And in this case, the user will not even recieve an error message. One of the most common error is that the user is automatically logged out from the Hulu account. To resume the streaming, the user has to put the credentials again on the website. Unless the browser has saved cookies from the previous session. Still, clicking the login button over and over again ruins the viewing experience. And the error will not go away automatically. If it happens once, it will keep happening again and again unless you take some necessary steps to fix the problem. This message is most often found on streaming devices such as Roku and Fire TV or on consoles such as the Xbox and PlayStation, as well as on smart TVs.

In some cases, Hulu provides you with an error code that can help you identify the problem. When this does not happen, and all that you see is the login screen, asking you to put the login details. Let’s take a look at some reasons behind the problem.

What Cuases Hulu Automatic Log out the Problem

  • Hulu playback errors occur when an application on your device cannot communicate with Hulu servers.
  • Hulu servers cannot provide a video stream.
  • Hulu login problems are usually caused by problems with your device, software, or home network. You can fix them by following the solutions below.
  • In other cases, Hulu playback errors are caused by problems at the end of Hulu. This means that if you see this problem when trying to watch a Hulu video, and everything is fine at your end, Hulu itself may have a problem.
  • When a playback error is caused by a problem with Hulu himself, all you can do is let them know about the issue and then wait for them to solve the problem.

If you want to eliminate problems that you can really fix yourself, here is what you can do if you encounter a Hulu play error on your streaming device.

How to Fix Hulu Keeps Logging Out

Solution 1: Make sure your internet connection is stable

bandwidth image

Hulu videos may stutter, buffer, or not play at all if your internet speed drops too low. But, unstable internet can also cause loss of traffic, which will log you out of the website. Generally, Hulu videos require 3 Mbps for a smooth flow of content, and Hulu with Live TV requires 8 Mbps bandwidth. Make sure that your internet bandwidth is good enough as per the requirement.

Solution 2: Reboot your smart device and network equipment

restart router

If the internet connection is stable from the ISP side, there has to be a problem with your device’s network settings or the network equipment (Router) itself. Most of the time, such issues can be fixed with a simple reboot. A minor setback on the network setting can disrupt the flow of data between the website’s server and your system. As the services of Hulu are premium in nature, they keep checking your credentials (i.e., the account info) frequently while the service is in use. Therefore, if the input from your system is disrupted, Hulu will log you out as it will not identify your account. Make sure you reboot your router as well as your device. This might potentially fix the problem.

Solution 3: Switch to a wired connection

Lan cable

This is quite impossible for a portable device such as an iPhone or Android device. But this can be done on almost any smart Tv or laptops. The reason behind this is that when you are using a wireless connection (The WiFi), there can be a lot of small issues which can disrupt the link. Even the most trivial reasons such as the distance between device and router or the number of walls in between can cause the disarray.

To avoid this, try a wired connection. This is quite easy on Laptops or Macbooks, but it can get a little tricky on Smart TVs or streaming devices. Nevertheless, there are a few tricks for streaming devices such as Amazon Fire Stick or Roku.

Solution 4: Clear cache and cookies

Every application generates a significant amount of cache while operating. This cache consists of various data preferences such as preset video quality, network configuration, watching history, etc. The cache also includes the login details of the users, so that the application can keep track of the account. But most of the times, when the generated cache size is more than a specific limit, the application cannot create any more files. Either that or the system cannot read through the cached documents quickly. This causes the automatic logout problem on Hulu accounts.

To clear app cache on various devices, follow the steps provided below:

Clear cache on Amazon Fire Tv Stick

  1. Navigate to Fire TV settings.
  2. Select the “Apps” option. This will open the list of the installed application.
  3. After that, select “Manage installed application” option. From here, you can tweak application-related settings.
    Manage-Installed-Applications-settings-menu
  4. Now, select the “Hulu” application.
  5. Here, you will see the “Clear Cache and Data” option. Click on that to clear the cache.
  6. Restart the Amazon Fire Tv Stick device.

Clear cache on Apple Tv

Clearing the cache on Apple devices is somewhat more comfortable than other smart devices.

  1. Turn off the Apple Tv and wait for it to completely shut down.
  2. Remove the power cable from the Apple Tv.
  3. After a few minutes, plug the cable back in Tv and Turn it back on.
  4. This simple reboot will clear the cache on almost all applications installed in an Apple Tv.

Clear cache on Roku devices

  1. Open home screen of Roku device.
  2. Now, all you have to do is press a particular combination of keys on the Roku remote.
  3. Just press the “Home” key five times, and then the “Rewind” button twice and lastly the “Fast Forward” button.
  4. This will clear the caches automatically on your Roku device. Just wait for 20 to 30 seconds and then restart the device.

Solution 5: Log out of your Hulu account on other devices

Hulu only allows up to 2 screens on each account. That is when you are using Hulu on two of your devices simultaneously, you will not be able to open Hulu on any other smart device.

Most of the times, many users forget about older devices while logging in to new ones. But, Hulu services detect the existence of old accounts after the new login. And hence, it might log you out of the new account.

To fix this, just make sure you list out all your smart devices and check how many of those have Hulu installed. After that, just keep the Hulu account logged in in the one device you will be using at the moment and remove from all other devices.

You can also enter the “Manage devices” option on your Hulu account and delete older devices from your account.

Also, you should remove Hulu from your social media accounts as that link can be used to access your Hulu account.

For example, to remove Hulu from your Facebook account, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Facebook homepage.
  2. Head over to a little drop-down arrow on the uper right side of the screen. Click on the arrow to open the menu.
  3. Now, click on the “Settings” option.
    Facebook settings option
  4. Now, you can see the “Apps and websites” option on the left side of the screen. Click on that to proceed.
  5. Here, you can see all the apps and websites linked to your Facebook account.
    Facebook linked apps
  6. After that, select the “Hulu” app and click on the “Remove” button.

Follow the steps for all your social media accounts to fix the automatic logout problem.

Solution 6: Eliminate background processes

As mentioned above, Hulu requires a stable and robust internet connection for flawless performance. You may have some other applications opened in your background such as Youtube, Netflix or Steam, which might be using the bandwidth alongside Hulu.

To fix this problem, follow the steps given below:

  1. Press “Ctrl+Shift+Esc” together top open the task manager.
    Windows 10 taskmanager
  2. Now, click on “More details” to expand the task manager.
  3. Here, you can see all the background process running at the moment on your PC.
    Task Manager - Windows 10
  4. After that, move over to the “Network” section. Here, you can see the Network consumption by each process.
  5. Now, right-click on any application/process which is consuming bandwidth in the background and end the task.
  6. This will provide Hulu with a better connection so you can enjoy its services without any problem.
