People who switch from Windows to Mac, will feel quite awkward while accessing the Calendar application on the Desktop. Either you need to access it from the Dashboard or you have to open the Calendar app from the Dock. It will be quite uneasy for the new Mac users, who were accessing their Calendar app from the Task Bar in Windows. If you are facing the same problem, Itsycal for Mac OS X will help you get rid of it. It is a simple application for Mac, which will bring the Calendar app to the Top Menu bar on your desktop. Lets have a look at the features and functions of the app below.
Itsycal is a free application and you can download it using the link below. It is a very small application and the installation will be pretty quick. After you complete the installation, you will see a small calendar icon as shown in the screenshot above. Just like other icons, you can move this calendar app by holding the Command Key. Similar to Windows, it will display the calendar in a drop down window. The arrow keys on the top right corner will let you move between different months and you can return to the current month by pressing the Dot in the middle.
The week count will be available on the left sidebar. You can enable/disable the week count either by pressing the “W” button on your keyboard or you can do it in the application settings. There will be three main options at the bottom of the window. The first option “Pin”, will let you pin the calendar app and work on other apps simultaneously. The “Calendar icon” on the right will open the “iCal” app on your Mac. The last Menu icon (three horizontal lines), will open the Settings of the application as shown in the screenshot below.
In the Itsycal menu, you can enable/disable the app launch when you login. The text box below that will let you create your own Keyboard Shortcut to open the app. If you have connected Facebook and other social networks to your iCal app, it will be displayed in the bottom menu. You can choose and sync events with the Itsycal application. All the dates which have scheduled events will have a dot below the date in the Itsycal app. In the same menu, you can choose the upcoming events to be displayed along with the drop down calendar.
