Nanu Lets You Make VOIP Calls On 2G From Your Android Device

Skype is one of the popular VOIP application on the Internet. Today, it has lots of competitors like Viber, Google Hangouts, etc., and many instant messaging apps also provides VOIP call support. The limitations in VOIP calls are, the person on the other end should have the same app to make free calls and it requires a broadband or 3G connection for uninterrupted calls. Nanu, a new VOIP application for Android, which breaks that barrier and lets you make calls in a 2G connection. The Singapore based company developed this application for countries which have a slow internet connection. Here’s how it works.

As of now Nanu is available only for Android devices and the iOS app is under development. You can download the app from Play Store using the link below. Once you complete the installation, it will walk you through the instructions to use the app. The interface of the application is pretty simple and easy to understand. Not only for Nanu users, you can call any mobile or landline from the application.

Similar to other VOIP apps like Skype, Viber, etc., you can call Nanu users for free. For non-Nanu users you can call by purchasing the credits. Initially, the app offers 15 free minutes to call non-Nanu users. So, if you are satisfied with the call quality and support, you can purchase the credits.

As soon as you install the application, all your call log and contacts will be synced to the application. The homepage contains the dialer and all the options will be available at the bottom menu. There will be a “Favorite” section available on the menu to add your most used contacts for quick access. People who are using “Nanu” in your contacts will have that symbol as shown in the screenshot above. As of now, it supports 41 countries and calls to mobile phones are limited to specific countries like Germany, India, Israel, Singapore, etc..

The app makes money through advertising. When you make a call, it will play an advertisement, until the call gets connected. Working with slow internet connection is the only highlight of the app, other than that, it’s just another mobile VOIP application. If your place or the device you use doesn’t have high speed connectivity and still you want to use a VOIP application, Nanu is worth giving a try.
