Transform New Tab Page in Google Chrome to Windows 8 Metro Style

In the past, we have covered a few extensions for Google Chrome such as New Tab Page, etc. that allows users to customize their new tab page, with few transforming it to something similar to Windows 8 metro style. Today, we came across another handy extension – new metroTab – that offers users with a wide range of customization options.

Once installed, just open a new tab page and you will be able to see the new, metro style tab page for Google Chrome. To get started, just click on the profile icon and go to the extension options. From the options, you can change the name that appears in new tab page, customize colors and background, use custom CSS, animations, import/export list of tiles, setup weather information and much more.

To add any new tile, simply click on your profile name and select Add Tiles. All you need to do is add the URL of the application you want to add as tiles to your new tab page, specify the label and RSS feed (if any) and upload the logo. It can automatically fetch the logo as well, I tried adding a bunch of websites to the new tab page and it automatically updated the logo for the site.

If you want, you can change the placement of the tile by dragging it from its current place and pasting it where you want it to appear. Do note that you can only drop tiles on the space provided meaning that if you drop one tile over the other, it will interchange places. If you want, you can even change the size of the tiles, edit them or simply remove them from your new tab page. Just right click on any tile and it will show you a certain options at the bottom of the screen. To open any tile, just double click on it and it will open the specific tile.
