Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Using Redsn0w 0.9.6, iPhone Dev Team’s backup Plan in Action

Yesterday we had reported about Comex missing dead line of untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 but that doesn’t mean you won’t be getting untethered jailbreak on Christmas. Here comes the iPhone Dev team’s backup plan which we had reported back at the start of December.

The iPhone dev team’s iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak backup plan relies on iOS 4.2 B3 SHSH hashes which likely not all iPhone users will have but until comex comes up with his untethered jailbreak solution, iPhone dev team wants to please iPhone users with their own unique solution on this Christmas eve.

iOS 4.2.1 Untethered Jailbreak

As of now iPhone dev team is seeking help from iPhone users to test the backup plan only those users who can fit into below criteria may follow @redsn0w_tester to further announcement.

1. Has Mac OS X

2. Has legal access to iOS 4.2 Beta 3 firmware

3. Doesn’t require carrier unlock

4. Has iOS 4.2 B3 hashes stored in Cydia or using TinyUmbrella

Other users will need to wait for some time until dev team comes up with working solution without iOS 4.2 B3 firmware requirement.

  1. I would like to upgrade my IPAD with IOS 3.2.2 and my IPhone with IOS 4.0 to IOS 4.2.1. Both devices are jailbroken and I would like to maintain my jailbrake. Is there a way to do that? Thanks.
