Google Launches Google Linux Software Repositories

Google Desktop Application and software are popular among wide range of users. Google software list includes Google Earth, Picasa, Google Chrome Browser, and Google Desktop. Keeping this application up to date seems to be pretty easy for Windows and Mac users, but for Linux Users this is not the case, it’s difficult to keep a track of packages of latest Google application for all Linux flavor.
To help Linux users Google has launched Linux software repositories, to make it easier to download and stay up-to-date with current releases of Google Linux applications.
Currently this Linux Software Repositories has Picasa for Linux 2.7 and Google Desktop for Linux 1.2 In future Google planning to release other Packages of Google Desktop application.
Google is generous to provide guides for various Linux flavor with screenshots which includes Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty), Debian GNU/Linux 4.0, OpenSUSE 10.2 and Mandriva 2007 Spring.
A step-by-step Guide to Install the Google Repositories on Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy)
1) Download Google Linux Package Signing Key from Here
2) Choose the “Software Sources” application from the “System/Administation” menu and Import Signing Key.

3) Google, Inc. Linux Package Signing Key should appear in the list.

4) Now add “deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free” Third-Party Software

5) You should now See New Repository in List. Click “Reload” to finish configuring your system to use the new repository.
