When any new technology device is released, there are issues faced by users which the developers had overlooked during the creation of the device’s operating system. This applies to nearly all technological devices especially handsets.
Apple’s products are notorious for being problematic in their early stages. New OS releases especially trouble users with jailbroken sets. But the problem currently being faced by iPad users has got nothing to do with their devices being jailbroken or not.
The problem is that the iPad does not automatically rejoin known WiFi networks. Apple has recognized this problem and its own words has defined it such:
“Under certain conditions, iPad may not automatically rejoin a known WiFi network after restart or waking from sleep. This can occur with some third-party WiFi routers that are dual-band capable when:
1. Using the same network name for each network
2. Using different security settings for each network”
Companies do not normally recognize their mistakes and their products’ problems this quickly unless of course they have a solution. Apple’s solution to this problem goes as:
“If you encounter this issue, try the following:
Create separate WiFi network names to identify each band. This can be done easily by appending one or more characters to the current network name.
Example: Add a G to the 802.11b/g network name and an N to the 802.11n network name.
Ensure that both networks use the same security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, and so on).
If the issue persists, reset your network settings using Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.”
According to Apple this will hopefully solve your problem. Hopefully the solution will work for you. But if you are an iPad user experiencing this problem to be persistent, try sharing your experience on the Apple support forums. Perhaps you will find an extra bit of help.
