Kind of a follow up to my last article, I decided to delve into some simple programs that do a great job monitoring vital temperatures inside
your PC. A lot of home system builders like me, and others that are into PC hardware and overclocking know that high CPU and GPU temps are something we always have to keep an eye on. Especially overclocking hardware, which instantly raises the operating temperature of your hardware. Here are some small programs that I like to run to keep an eye on temps.
First there is Core Temp, is small, no fuss program to monitor the temperature inside the CPU core. Its really great for dual-core systems, it shows the temperature of each individual core. Core Temp can be minimized to run inside your notification area of the taskbar. That’s basically why it’s my number 1 choice.
The second program is called Real Temp, is which designed for all Intel single Core, Dual Core and Quad Core processors. This program is a little more intricate. It monitors each core temp and reports temperature data relative to the safe maximum operating core temperature that you can set to whatever you feel is safe. When the CPU gets hotter and the temp maxes out, Real Temp automatically will start to throttle or slow down your CPU. The big reason I like this one, is because of the Nvidia temperature monitor. It just keeps an eye on your Nvidia based GPU, just like a little digital thermometer. If interested head over to their respective sites for a list of supported CPU’s and installation instructions.
