While there are many prominent gaming award shows and awards given out each year, the Game Developer’s Conference Awards is always among the most coveted for many developers. The main reason for this is 500 leading game developers from all over the globe contribute in the voting process. The stand out at the awards this year was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves developed by Naughty Dog who took home 5 awards including Best Audio, Best Technology, Best Visual Arts, Best Writing, and Game of the Year.

Some of the other winners included Batman: Arkham Asylum developed by Rocksteady for Best Game Design, Torchlight developed by Runic Games for Best Debut Game, and Scribblenauts developed by 5th Cell took home the Innovation and Best Handheld Game Awards.  To check out the entire list of winners at GDC, head over to the Game Developers Choice website.

Gamespy reports:

“This year has seen some incredible titles across platforms and genres — big-budget blockbusters like Uncharted 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum and addictive online games like Farmville all made for an amazing year in games,” Meggan Scavio, event director of the Game Developers Conference, said in a statement. “The winners at the Game Developers Choice Awards have exhibited that they can create compelling experiences that set the bar even higher for other developers to follow.”
