Early in the morning we had reported about Android 2.1 with new HTC Sense UI ROM was leaked for HTC Droid Eris. Now the good for HTC Hero users is here, the folks over at XDA forum have managed to port this leaked Droid Eris rom for HTC Hero.
Android 2.1 update for HTC Hero is official expected to come in Q2 of 2010 but if you are impatient and want try Android 2.1 with new HTC Sense UI now on your HTC Hero then head over to XDA forum to download HeroDroid v0.1 with Sense 2.1 Eris dump port.
The ported HeroDroid 0.1 ROM is confirmed to be working and stable but some of the apps still missing or not working like Google Earth. Initially few uses reported about Wifi issue but now it has been fixed. Many users reporting that HTC Hero with Android 2.1 is faster and has better keyboard responsiveness.
After flashing HeroDroid 0.1 ROM on HTC Hero you may need to force close at boot, we recommend you not to flash this rom if you don’t know what you are doing. We will not be responsible if you brick your phone (via Androidguys).
