MobileMe is undoubtedly one of the easiest options for keeping your data synced between two or more Macs or your Mac and your iPhone. However, if the $99 per individual or $149 five-user package a year is scaring you off, there are some extremely easy ways to keep your essential data synced. Perhaps the most efficient and easy way for the average user is to utilize various Google services. In fact, with little configuration, you can sync Address Book and iCal right from their native preference panes. By syncing your data with Google services, you will be easily able to access your data from any Mac, iPhone, or internet connected device that allows you to access your Google account, allowing you to easily manage your data all from your account.
Sync Calendars with iCal
Syncing your iCal contacts with Google calendars truly couldn’t be any easier. No need to download an app or plug in, iCal’s preference pane gives you access to everything you need. Go to iCal > Preferences. Click the accounts tab and the (+) button in order to add a new account. This will allow you to enter your Google account information and begin the process of syncing your Google calendars with iCal.
Sync Contacts with Address Book
Sync Address Book with Google Contact list by going to Address Book > Preferences, and clicking on the Accounts tab. Once there, select “On My Mac” on the left to access your account information tab as seen in the image below. Click the checkbox for Google, click configure, and select your options.
