iPhone 3.1.3 OS 05.12.01 Baseband Working Exploit Discovered

Unlock iPhone 3G 3.1 with Ultrasn0w
With every new iPhone OS release the race to unlock and jailbreak amongs iPhone hackers begins. In order to keep iPhone users away from unlocking and jailbreaking Apple is found to be patching every exploit and bugs discovered in iPhone OS. Recently Apple had released iPhone OS 3.1.3 and it is yet to be unlocked.

However iPhone dev team has released Pwnagetool 3.1.5 which lets you to upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1.3 without upgrading your baseband there by retaining your unlock. But if you have upgraded to stock iPhone 3.1.3 firmware by mistake then you are out of luck till iPhone dev team or any other iPhone hackers can find working exploit.

Well the good news is here for those users, the wait is not longer now as Sherif Hashim one of iPhone hacker has got working exploit for iPhone OS 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01. Recently he had tweeted that he has managed to crash baseband 5.12.01.

Sherif Hashim has handed exploit to iPhone dev team and Musclenerd has confirmed that exploit is working. What does this mean ?? Well it means that iPhone dev team may craft their tools to use this exploit to unlock iPhone OS 3.1.3 baseband 5.12.01.

But iPhone Dev team may or may not release unlock, they may want to preserve this exploit for rumored iPhone OS 4.0.

We suggest you not upgrade to stock firmware 3.1.3 instead use Pwnagetool 3.1.5 or Sn0wbreeze 3.1.3 to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 and unlock using ultrasn0w 0.92.

    iphone freezed on me i try using backra1n to boot it back up even with that it kept freezing. i tried to restore it back to 3.1.2 it had to be verify with apple i kept getting error iphone cant be restored. i downloaded 3.1.3 and try restoring allowed me but i unplugged after the verify with apple passed. i try restoring it again with 3.1.2 and still i didnt allow me to only way out was to update =(

    Sell your iPhones . There will not be a unlock. Sell it now before the word goes out. I sold my 3 iPhones 3gs that I bought. My cousin works for iPhone dev team. I am not kidding ( not FUCKING around ). sell them or you will get stuck with them , and the prices are stoping iPhone 4g 4.0 is coming in June of this year. The best thing to do is count for variable change. And selling it it’s best way insted of sitting and waiting for something that not gonna happen at ALL. If u don’t belive me watch

    Ok I did the samething it’s been almost two weeks since they lunched the 3.1.3
    so of course it might take another few weeks for them to release the unlock I’am just going to Waite for them to Release it like they always do I don’t want to sell
    my phone then fell stupit cause a few days later they the unlock comes out think about it AT&T are not the only carriers in the world that apple has they had to have and unlock for the rest of the carriers they sell there phone too around the wold I give two to three more weeks

    hello, everyone! iPhone 3G and 3Gs can be unlock on baseband 5.12.01.
    First update to 3.1.3 from iTunes, then remove your sim card’s pin number and insert that sim card to your iPhone and connect to iTunes.
    iTunes will unlock your iPhone 3G & 3Gs within few seconds. You must have internet connection for activation via iTunes Server.
    after that u can jailbreak your iPhone with any jailbreak tool.
    i prefer redsn0w-win_0.9.4 that works fine.

    I’m desperate… I bought my iphone 3gs 3 weeks ago and at the same day I jailbreak it and upgrade it.

    I am not familiar with apple. I am a windows kind of person so I didn’t know better. It’s not fair, there was no way for me to know.
    I was willing to give money to unlock but after some research I read that these are scam sites so I didn’t.

    Unfortunately I didn’t do any research before updating, but at the time I had no reason to.
    I never expected that something like this could happen because I was clueless :(

    I managed to roll back to 3.1.2 but as you know the baseband is still on 05.12.01

    for real it worked on 1 3gs and 1 3g. heheh i really don’t know how i did it but its true cox i’m using 3gs still on os 3.1.3 basband 5.12.01 bootloader 5.9.
    i tried doing that again but this time it didn’t work

    OK first of all there is no such thing as “I ACCIDENTALLY” upgraded my iphone. Give me a break, iTunes don’t automatically updates your phone, it ask for your permission not once but TWICE. Now moving on I really need this as well, since my phone was just replaced by apple and of course the new one came with 5.12.01 baseband :( so im outta luck… I hope dev team releases the unlock soooooon.

    i sold my phone and before handin over i wanted to erase the data so i went to the setting and below reset setting there wa reset settings and erase data i did that and then phone did not restart it shows the apple logo keeps rebooting any idea how can i fix i did not connect it to itune or upload it and the phone is goin in recovery mode i tried that any suggestions??

    Cindel once again I have to say, I am a windows person, I have no idea about mac or apple…

    3.1.3 was released and a week later I bought my iphone 3GS from a friend (a 40 year old person from where I work). He never said anything to me about not updating (probably because he didn’t even know about the update himself since it was only a week after its release. (iphone was jailbroken allready on 3.1.2 and worked fine for the next few hours :P)

    So.. I connected my iphone to itunes and updated… simple as that… I had no clue. I wasn’t able to know, I’m still learning all about this.

    So… YES!!!! it us possible for an accidental upgrade… I did it willingly but there was no way for ME to know the consequences.

    Um for everyone who says there’s no such thing as accidentally updating, yes there is. I was never an iPhone person, it was a gift and I was not very familiar with Apple’s products, not even iTunes. I didn’t even know updating it would do that, so when I did, it didn’t let me do anything else on iTunes. I was afraid if I ended the program, the update would corrupt and break my iPhone or something.

    So I let it go, and then it told me my phone has no SIM card. Great.

    If you are stuck in DFU mode, the apple logo, or on the emergency screen all you need to do is ONE OF 3 things

    1. Hold the power button to turn the phone off then release wait 10 seconds and press the power button again for up to 1 minute. (the screen will turn on and then as you continue to hold it down the phone will boot up and go to the main screen)

    or

    2. You can restore your phone from a back up.

    lastly

    3. You can reload itunes and restore the phone

    the first step will take care of your issue with the dfu mode where it shows the usb cable. Just remember to hold the power button till it turns on fully and start with the phone turned off.

    if ur iphone has a bootloader 5.08 then u can downgrade ur baseband from 05.12.01 to 04.26.08…through fuzzyband amd unlock it through ultrasnow…u have to dload it on ur iphone and ull be unlocked …but only if u have bootloader 5.08…i am curious whats mine :P

    To know bootloader u have to install fuzzyband through cydia,and then fuzzyband will tell u the boot loader version and also if iphone could be downgraded or not.

    I’ve been reading this forum for quite some time, having so much fun reading and picturing the level of desperation some of you are carring. It is plain pathetic. Iphone sales arent that great, and they want all the jailbroken assh*les to buy the new 4g when it comes available. All these guys, dev team, geo and etc, work for apple, and trust me when I say there wont be an unlock for 05.12.01. There will instead be a tool for the new version which will come with a unlockable hardware. The unlock wont work on older 3g or 3gs eventualy updated to whatever new os version these new 4g iphones come with. How do I know this? Well, wait and see, it is all about money…

    i really got pi$$ed off this iphones updates.. can somebody help me.. my iphone(3GS) was accidentally upgraded and restored to 3.1.3 firmware with 5.12.0l baseband, 6.4 bootloader, its like being back to lock state, when i connect to itunes it says “The sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported”.. does anyone have idea what should I do? my iphone is no meaning now.. i cannot use it? plssss… helppppppp!!!

    What i dont understand is, in the UK they are using 3g iphones with firmware 3.1.3 directly from China and their service providers freely unlock their phones to be used on a non at&t network. I have read this in several different forums. So if they can get them unlocked there, then what is the problem here? We all know it is possible to be unlocked, and if its a matter of waiting for 4.0 to come out, then why? Whats it going to hurt? Whats the big deal? Someone, or shall i say DEV TEAM being influenced by Apple in some form or another. Think of it this way, every new Ifirmware was jailbroke, and unlocked in most cases less then a month. Even with the major updates, and in other cases prior to public release. And i am just supporting those who need this unlock, it does not matter to me one way or the other, i got my unlocked iphone, i am just saying is all!

People who are stuck with iPhone 3Gs FW 3.1.3 baseband 5.12.01 (new boot rom) eagerly waiting for the unlock from anybody, NO HOPE. its not possible. some guys may be fooling around that they have some kind of solution. but actually none has any. its better to forget about it. wait to see what comes from apple next month (June 2010).

    I dont think they have to prove anything to anyone, they have done a great job in the past jailbraking and unlocking iphones. If they cant or dont want to release the unlock, fine, move on, go to att and have ypur fully operational iphone.

If i buy this hardware its should be mine to do what I please with, if i want to go with any service provider thats my choice.Its like buying a tv but only being able to use 1 cable provider, this is blasphomy and we should be creating a petition against apple, the only people that can make a change is the consumer.

    Just great… Seems there is really no way out… I’ve done same mistake as everyone here but it wasn’t an accident, I just didn’t know that it’s not unlockable yet so when I was repearing my friends iPhone 3g I decided to make her a favor and update fw… I manager to downgrade it to 3.1.2 and jailbreak it by blackra1n but can’t unlock it (bb5.12.01 bl5.9) anyone who knows the way out please help!!!     I am very desperate and because of this I read forums (A LOT OF FORUMS) everyday! for new developments on the subject.

    I’m not optimistic in general, but if I was… :) I would think that, maybe we could have the unlock next month… i think Geohot is making something. It’s called ‘limera1n’ and its not fake 100% but of-course its not out yet.

    Maybe if we could all pray LOL it could happen really really soon (early in June)

    @Erwin I think we will have to wait for O/S 4 :(. The good news is June is approaching and it will be released shortly. At least we will have our I phones for the summer. I think that both geohot and devteam have exploits but they dont want to share them to find out if there the same exploit, this puts a delay on the unlock because if one releases it and there both the same were all screwed for O/S 4 and waiting another year for one.

    @Erwin I’m not even going to turn my head to those sites. If Geohot or Dev Team haven’t released it yet then no one has. Im waiting on those 2 guys. It’s really disappointing that we have to unlock these handsets to use them on a service provider other than AT&T which in Canada is Rogers. The thing that makes me laugh is I’m with Telus, when I plug my I-Phone into Itunes it downloads the telus carrier settings but I cant get on there network till its unlock. Apple you are teasing whores lol

    The procedure in the following section. To use it will need a jailbroken iPhone:

    1 / deactivate 3G
    2 / add the source to cydia apt.geohot.com
    3 / Install com.geohot.purplesn0w
    4 / wait until the installation and restart your iPhone
    5 / iPhone is unlocked

    Nick, I tried your instructions of Geohot.purplesn0w unlock without favorable results, is this unlock for the 3G as well as the 3GS or Just the 3GS?
    I’ve also purchased 3 different software packages claiming to unlock “Any version of iphone” all without any success so I would have to say we all have to hang in there until geohot/Devteam releases the solution which should be early June. Good luck all.

    For now I dont want to unlock – just activate and use it as iPod! Is it possible without the SIM?

    i did every thing and i got it to work but I could NOT get it to work for t-mobile so for all u that do not use t-mobile and use universal sim cards like mine (H2o wireless, 02 wireless and there is some others) it should work i have had my Iphone 3gs 3.1.3 BB 5.12.01 for 3 days now so if u have any questions let me know just email. I unlock and jailbrake ipods and iphones a lot and when i see the Unlock for T-moble i will let u all know Because i have 3 co-workers that r in the same bote as all of u and they r using t-mobile and it did not work for them.

    Correct me if I am wrong but cant you downgrade your baseband if you have BL 05.08 with fuzzyband from cydia?

    relax guys,24th June is the magical date.OS 4.0 will be released and after that if dev team have the unlock they may release it soon.

    Use Spirit Jailbreak it is really works and fast.. but remember it would not unlock it at the moment until in a 2 week times.. so once u get that spirit jailbreak and then there is cydia in ur phone which u can do anything you want… it is really works for 3.1.3 on baseband 5.12.01……………………………………………….

    Hi planet earth.Like anyone else,the world has bombard me with so many problems to solve,the lattest of coarse being this iphone #>&£§ unlocking thing.But I solved it!Thanks to much curiosity.Mine had stalled since I bought it in march.This is how;just place the iphone 3gs with its screen facing down,the camera on the east of gadget,and blow a new vuvuzela toward it!Phew!The problem is no more. I hope Apple comes up with another problem.
