What if I dont have Cydia and cant install it? remember the phone is locked…

  • edwin

    I have a 3g on 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01.
It is carrier unlocked and not unjailbroken. If I jailbreak it, will it be locked?

  • edwin

I mean it is not jailbroken.

  • Alex

If you have a 3gs phone, unfortunately there is still nothing you can do at this time.
If you have a 3G iphone you will have to jailbreak your phone once again using the RedSnow Loophole. This will also install Cydia on your iphone.
The best link with instructions and download information for jailbreaking with redsnow can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rklxwqpKAVs

    Fuzzyband doesn’t work with the 05.12.01 … Only with 05.08 …
    What a deception…

I’m one of those guys who pressed OK for the iTunes updates. Well I didn’t even know that I would have to unlock my phone before today.

Anyways, I tried this with my 3G 3.1.3. The jailbreaking went fine as indicated by Alex. But then when running Fuzzyband it fails to downgrade. I get the following:

    Fuzzyband Downgrader 1.0
    Bootloader Version 0.00
    Baseband Version 0.00
    iPhone OS Version 3.1.3
    Not Supported

From Cydia, I thought this was supposed to be Fuzzyband 2.0 …

Also why is it unable to find the bootloader and baseband versions ?

    Thanks,
    Mitch

Forgive my ignorance I am beginner in this matter. I just win an iphone 3G 16gb that came from the U.S., dizzy here inadvertently updated it in iTunes and now it is running Firmware 3.1.3 Original and the Baseband 05.12.01. I installed cydia and tried Fuzzyband by downgrading the baseband, only that my bootloader 05.09, all I’m reading on the Internet tells me that there’s no way to unlock the beast for now. The Question is: If it would be possible to restore the iPhone to factory or something. Again I apologize for my ignorance on the subject. Please would like some help. Thank you!

There is a way to restore old firmware even with apple no longer singing it. Read on…

iTunes basically sends a hash of your firmware file to the apple server, then apple server checks and see if they are still signing for that hash. If so, they send back a response saying “Go ahead, install it!”. To beat this technique to install old firmware,a simple man in the middle attack is called for, you intercept the request and send itunes the appropriate response.

Link to guide on how to (should work with ipod touch all gens): http://modmyi.com/forums/3g-s-downgrading/685331-howto-setup-local-3gs-restore-verification-server-ecid-shsh.html

Guys, I think you’re getting a bit confused here and being a bit hasty to call out the poster.

    1. All firmware can be jailbroken, including 3.1.3
    2. NOT all basebands can be unlocked (5.12.01 is not unlockable)
    3. Fuzzyband will only work if you have BOOTLOADER 5.08 (different to baseband)

If you have the 5.08 bootloader then it is always possible to downgrade, since you can downgrade the baseband which will then enable you to downgrade the firmware through shift+restore in iTunes.

If you have a bootloader any higher than 5.08 then you are unable to downgrade/unlock. You will have to wait until the release of 4.0 and then you should be fine.

  • Danjam

Well my bootloader is 6.2 so i don’t think I’ll make progress anytime soon lol
