After many Beta and Release Candidates, Mozilla has finally released Firefox 3.6 for download. Firefox 3.6 Beta has been in testing for many months, and Release Candidates started coming out this month only.
The new version of Firefox promises many features, some of which include:
- Firefox 3.6 is 20% faster than Firefox 3.5.
- It uses Gecko 1.9.2 browser engine which gives it faster page rendering, minimal load times, and startup speed.
- The new Firefox supports smooth and fast execution of JavaScript.
- It includes a new plugin updater.
- Probably the best and the most anticipated feature in Firefox 3.6 is Personas, using which you can personalize the look of your Firefox by selecting new themes called Personas in a single click and without a restart.
- It also now includes implementation of HTML 5 audio and video support, and video can now be displayed in full screen and supports better frame rate.
It includes some improvements for developers too:
- It now supports implementation of latest HTML 5, and also includes File API for local file handling.
- Firefox 3.6 now now supports the new Wen Open Font Format (WOFF).
- Firefox 3.6 exposes the orientation of the laptop or device to Web pages.
