Alexa Ranking is Broken For Sub Domains

Alexa Internet is one of leading internet statistics and web traffic Information provider. Alexa claims to be gathering statistics of website from numerous sources. One such source is Alexa toolbar which is installed as browser plug-in .
Alexa web traffic statistics is not accurate but it still gives fare idea of amount of traffic given website is getting. For e.g Alexa ranking of any website between 100,000 to 200,000 should be getting an average of 200 to 700 visitors per day.
But Alexa Ranking seems to be broken or we can say it gives false statistics for sub-domain of a Website. A sub-domian is called child domain is part of larger Main/Primary domain. For e.g example.com is root domain then www.example.com is subdomain also xyz.example.com is subdomain.
Consider following example
Blogvolt.com β This is a website for creating Free blogs and itβs based on Wordpress Engine.
Current Alexa Rank for Blogvolt is 476,661
Now consider a sample blog created on Blogvolt β blogsdna.blogvolt.com
Now Check Alexa Rank for blogsdna.blogvolt.com you will see 476,661 Alexa Rank.
Its not possible to have this rank for a blog created 5 min ago. Some how Alexa fails to identify Sub-domain and displays Alexa rank for its Main Domain. This clearly indicates that Alexa Ranking is broken for a sub domains.

Yea I noticed this ;)
it also doesnot shows up for.uni.cc domains :P
Good find. I have never noticed this. As for as the primary domain is concerned, I think there ranking is bit accurate. They may need to fix few issues associated with subdomains. BTW, apart from ranking, is the traffic statistics for all the subdomains same as the primary domain ?.
