How to Unlock iPhone 3G/3GS 3.1.2 OS Using Blacksn0w

Blackra1n RC3 is available for download for Windows & Mac along with Blacksn0w to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 OS is added to Cydia. Kudos to Goehot for bringing jailbreak & unlock for iPhone OS 3.1.2. Blacksn0w can unlock iPhone 3G & 3GS with firmware 3.1.2 having baseband 05.11.07.

We are here with step by step guide on how to unlock iPhone 3G/3Gs 3.1.2 using blacksn0w. Carefully read all the instruction before jumping to unlock iPhone. We will not be responsible for any damage which may occur to your iPhone using this guide. You are warned!!

How to Unlock iPhone 3G/3GS 3.1.2 OS

Case 1: Your iPhone OS 3.1.2 is already jailbreaked using Blackra1n

1. if you have previously jailbroke your iPhone using BlackRa1n/Blackra1n rc2 and you kept the blackra1n.app on it, then run BlackRa1n. The Icy icon should be replaced by the “ra1n” option.

2. Select “ra1n” to upgrade BlackRa1n to RC3. After upgrading, run BlackRa1n and you should see the “sn0w” option. Just select “sn0w” and it will unlock your iPhone.

3. If you have deleted blackra1n.app then you can download Blackra1n RC3 and re-jailbreakto get blackra1n.app. now simply instyall blacksn0w and unlock your iPhone 3.1.2 os.

Case 2: Your iPhone OS 3.1.2 is not jailbreaked yet

1. Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 and upgrade your iPhone with iTunes

2. Now download Blackra1n RC3 to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2.

3. Click on Make it Ra1n let the Blackra1n do the job

4. Once your iPhone enters into recovery mode and reboots, start the blackra1n app and you should now see “sn0w” option as can be seen from the screenshot below.

5. Once you’ve installed the applications, restart your iPhone. To do that, just hold down the top button until the Slide to power off message appears. Slide the button, and wait for your device to turn off. Turn on your device and you should now see the applications you selected on your iPhone.

Now enjoy your unlocked iPhone 3.1.2 OS.

    hi. i unlocked my 3gs without any problems but i cannot reboot… everytime i reboot the iphone gets stuck in recovery mode and then i need to restore and do the whole process again. i cannot turn my iphone off coz when i turn it on it gets stuck in recovery mode again… what do i do? so now i make sure that i always have my charger with me coz the if the iphone turns off, i need to do the whole process again of restoring then jailbreaking/unlocking. help pleas

    Unlocked my 3gs firmware 3.1.2 without any problems but i cannot reboot… everytime i reboot the iphone gets stuck in recovery mode. I have to connect the iPhone to a computer and run itune to bring the phone up and run. And idea and help please.

    i have jailbroken and unlocked my 3gs 3.1.2 and it worked just fine until i turned off my device once i turned it off it will not start again it is stuck on recovery mode and than i have to restore it through i tunes again and again please help me if have any solution thnx

    This is a “feature”. If you actually READ the warnings on the website you would know that that’s exactly what GeoHot says. You NEED to run Blackra1n every single time you restart your phone. It’s a half ass jailbreak. Stick with the pros still on Dev-Team. Use Pwnage Tool 3.1.4 and get a Mac.

    Jack for your problem this is happening because you first use some pwntool and then after you run blackra1n. what you should do is restore the iphone with the firmware 3.1.2. is the one i used, then run the blackra1n dude. for everybody first clean the iphone with that firmware above mentioned with the itunes without any pwantool. ra1init it will work and install all the 3 tools

    i jailbroke it with blackra1n RC3 it did jaibreak and then used blacksnow but no unlock. i tried a T-Mobile sim card but it said no service. can anyone help me? ready to pay for it via paypal once solved

    Hi Everyone,

    I just downloaded and installed blackra1n.exe on my iPhone 3G which i had mistakenly upgraded to 3.1.2. The blackra1n icon appeared o my iphone after a reboot and i tapped on it but there was no internet connection. Then i uninstalled the blackra1n.exe by clicking on the Uninstall blackra1n button on the screen above. After that i’m trying to install blackra1n again and again but it is not appearing to be installed on my iPhone.

    Now i’m stuck with locked iPhone 3G with BB 05.11.07.

    Please help.

    Did everything, but unlock does not work after i put the T-Mobile sim, says sim changed and asked to connect to iTunes.

    I was able to jailbreak and unlock my iphone 3gs with version 3.1.2 and firmware 5.11.07. And it only took me less than 5 minutes to unlock my phone.
    For those who have had problem with WIFI after unlocked your iphone, try to reset your network as follow:
    Reset network settings (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network settings).

    I have the no service problem after jailbreak and unlock…I repeated the steps many times, always same result, today I restored the 3.1.2 original back to the iphone, and inserted a AT&T sim and worked perfect, then, removed the sim card, jailbreak it using the method above and inserted again the AT&T sim card and still worked perfect, then removed the sim again, opened blackra1n, unlocked with the sn0w installation and inserted my tmobile sim card, and no service again, inserted the AT&T sim card, and same no service…, restored back to 3.1.2 and again AT&T sim card works…somebody can help with this issue?

    Hello there. I finally unlocked my 3gs without any problems but unfortunately i cannot reboot it. Now i have to make sure that i every time i have to carry my charger with me because if by chance the iphone turns off, i would need to do the whole process again of restoring and then jailbreaking/unlocking.     I am try to jail break my new iphone 3GS using blackra1n rc3 but each time i do it it just put the phone back to recovery mode and then i need to restore it back from a backup

    i just used this softaware and it works. at first i didn’t have wifi but i followed ATIK and i was able to detect it. i only installed cydia. i tried to install SNOW but i got stuck on post snow installation log. i’ll just stay cydia only. thanks ATIK

    I followed all the steps few times now and every time i get the same problem and that is connection. Phone gets jailbroken and unlocked fine until few minutes later it get disconnected from wifi and tmobile network and goes into search and connects again. Can anyone tell me how to fix this. Its usless because most of the time my phone is off network. I get tmobile and wifi but in about every 5mins it get disconnected and connects again.

    I have downloaded blackra1n and jailbreaked my iphone (version 3gs 3.1.2 baseband 05.11.07) but i am not able to launch the blackra1n to unlock it. I am getting an error message “check your internet connection” but I am connected to the internet by using wifi. Kindly let me know what is the problem if anyone knows.

    Blackrain does not unlock iphone 3gs properly. There are too many flaws in the jailbreak and messes up the iphone. I am waiting for pwnage tool to come up with the jail break. Blackrain was tried by me and many other i came accros are having multipul problems such as phone network, wifi, cydia and ipod functions. There is no solutions for these yet because blackrain is a bootner program means however it jailbreaks is how it gonna run in other words if you don’t have one problem it will have another problem whether you notice it or not until they come-up with the complete upgrade of this bootner.

    I have the same issue as Dennis (Jan 16, 2010 post).

    Any solution? I had ATT, then moved out of country. So, i have no option of connecting to a cellular network with a locked iPhone.

    Has anyone ran the Blackra1n program without cellular service? Can you just have wifi and run it?

    It appears as though Dennis and I can’t run Blackra1n b/c we are only using wifi.

    I used blackra1n, which worked fine and then unlocked my iphone 3g (3.1.2 and baseband 05.11.07) using the sn0w. To my knowledge, the iphone is jailbroken and unlocked because I can use it with T-Mobile no problem. When I connected it to iTunes to put my music on it, it only gives me an option to restore the phone(which locks it back). What am i missing? I’ve been trying to do this for two days and same result. Please let know if you know how to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance

    just made the same mistake (3.1.3) today because i read i had to restore factory settings for wi-fi to work (used blackra1n). now phone is locked and inaccessible, please help would be greatly appreciated

    I wish I had read through all of these savvy advices before upgrading my blackra1n jail broken and unlocked Iphone to firmware 3.1.3 with baseband 05.11.07. I have done everything to get it to work but to no avail. I tried using snowbreeze and others no luck. The only thing it is jailbroken but I lost the cydia application when I upgraded to 3.1.3.

    Any suggestion?

    Hey every one, i am having the same reboot problem that requires the iphone to be restored everytime. instead of doing that all i do is plug in my phone open up blackra1n and make it ra1n. in 20 sec ur iphone is back to the modded version u love so much. no need for i tunes or a restore. just re jailbreak.

    HI, THOSE WHO ARE HAVING REBOOT PROBLEM THAT IS THE PHONE GOES INTO THE RESTORE MODE AFTER REBOOT, YOU DON’T NEED TO RESTORE IT AGAIN FROM ITUNES JUST CONNECT YOUR IPHONE TO THE COMPUTER AND RUN BLACKRA1N AND WITHIN A FEW SECONS YOUR IPHONE WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL WITHOUT LOOSING ANY OF YOUR DATA THAT MOST OF YOU LOOSE AFTER A RESTORE. EVERYTHING IN PLACE SO BLACKRA1N IS NOT THAT BAD.
