I cannot find my answer on google, hopefully someone here would be able to answer me,

I’m a windows user (don’t own a mac) and I want to keep my 3g 3.0 (ultrasn0w) and be able to update to 3.1.2. is it possible to update my iPhone to a custom firmware made on a mac and then restore on itunes that of windows?

thanks.

My 2G iPhone was running the 3.1.2 firmware and could be updated through iTunes without the need to re-jailbreak to avoid activation. (I have no idea how but wasn’t complaining!) I decided a wanted to sell the phone so I restored to factory setting and it locked the phone. After following these instructions I was able to successfully jailbreak it and alas AT&T can stick it up their arse. Cheers for the post guys.

P.S. When it came to building the custom restore i didn’t have to alter any of the settings on PwnageTool, I simply clicked build.
