Update, I unlocked my phone with redsn0w mac_0.8 to OS 3.0 with no problems apart from it getting stuck on the reboot which I solved by unplugging the phone and plugging it in again which rebooted and finished the process. Now I have proper Apps (Brushes was what I really wanted) and I am happy enough - don't have to have 3.1.2 ... problem solved. Regards to all,

Ok you lucky guys with 3G phones will have to forgive me but I would like to ask a question - I am trying to upgrade my first generation iPhone which I unlocked almost two years ago with Ziphone, from 1.1.4 to the latest software - 3.1.2. I am trying to use Pwnage Tool 3.1 but I am getting "wrong firmware bundle selected". I have downloaded EVERY file I have found that is supposed to be compatible with my phone and I go through every one and they are all wrong. What am I doing wrong?
Please help, I don't have access to App Store, and all sorts of new stuff because I can't upgrade my software, I was hoping Ziphone would update their free software but it ain't happening.
Thanks guys and sorry to be so behind the times... xx

Hi, this is a post to (hopefully) help anyone with service issues.
I have noticed there are many posts of queries and no answers.

I have faced these similar problems and after playing around been able to overcome. So this is based on my experience and has worked for me. If you feel this information is incorrect; I apologize, please don’t crucify me.

It is important you have not upgraded to 3.0, 3.1 or 3.1.2 with itunes as this upgrades your baseband. If you have done this, you may need to use blackra1n to jailbreak, not sure about unlocking, as I have chosen to not upgrade with itunes (ever)

1) Download the pwnage tool, install and run.
2) For 3g Iphones, select the iphone icon 3g(s) far right.
3) You will need the 1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw
4) Re-create the custom ipsw and save to your desktop
5) Put your phone into restore mode (I’m sure you know how to do this by now)
6) Install the new custom firmware using the alt button and restore with itunes.

OK, you have now installed the firmware and re-installed your backup on the phone but have no service??
If so, you need to follow the instructions to install ultrasnow.

I hope this works for you… Good Luck!

Excellent news! Still waiting on a sim card for this phone so I might be in luck after all. Now to take it all apart just to fix a broken mute / vibrate switch........
silly design.

ALL,

You can unlock and Jailbreak your 3.1 with the new modem firmware which was keeping us all locked up. The Firmware 05.11.07 problem has now been fixed. I have done it on 2 iPhone 3G with 3.1 and newest bootloader etc.

Actually; I've tried accessing ipsw 3.0, 3.0.1, 3.1, 3.1.2 and NONE of them read properly. All get "wrong firmware bundle selected."

Going to try to use a previous version of Pwnage Tool.

I'm having the same problem: "wrong firmware bundle selected"
I'm pretty sure my software is 3.1 (or atleast, it was at one point), but I did a factory reset in my attempts to reset my bricked iphone. How do I fix my iphone now?
Thanks.
