To tell the truth, Firefox 3 is very stable and has not crashed even once on me. I am an Opera fan, but even I will admit that Firefox 3 is very good and works great. I have been using it on my system intermittently since version 3 came out.

Extension…the real culprits to the Firefox world and the real points of Firefox. It is a big dilemma, and well, Opera seems to be a winner here.

Yes, Firefox 3.0 on openSUSE Linux is just painful. I’ve had four crashes on the Huffington Post in the last five minutes.

I would say it’s very likely that Firefox 3 JavaScript handling is the problem. I have an number of extensions installed, but almost all are related to file downloading. My main media player is mplayer which handles most media. But when Firefox crashes merely during a page load, it has to be JavaScript as the culprit or some other page handling bug.

If it keeps up, I’m going to have to downgrade back to 2.0.0.16. I should have known better than to install a .0 release of anything - it’s ALWAYS a bad idea. That’s why I’m not upgrading my OpenSUSE 10.3 to 11.0 for several months.

  13. webguyscott July 29, 2008 5:05 am

Opera Rules…. Firefox is nothing but a hypebox…… I use Opera (Awesome and INNOVATIVE browser) for normal surfing & use FF only when I need those gory and heavy extensions…..

I’ve done everything and Firefox 3.0 still keeps crashing, specifically on the BBC website. Are there any resolutions for that?

  15. Rodnei Reis August 18, 2008 4:55 am

Richard Steven Hack, I use fx3 on Suse 10.3 and 11.0 and all is ok. Maybe upgrade to 11.0 will solve your problem.

For those Opera lovers, for what I would want a bag full of things that I’ll never use?

  16. thafiyastarta August 22, 2008 12:51 am

I don’t have any problems at all with firefox 3
    no problems with extensions
and no problems with my adblock plus.
    never crashes.
    works perfectly.

    however…

when im on someone elses computer who is not computer savy
Im going through the same steps I took
so i instal firefox 3 and when the box pops up ‘missing plug in’s” and it wont install the missing plug in’s. we down load the plug ins but they still no luck. I figured out how to fix the adblock plus issue but the flsah is still a mystery. *shrugs* ill keep digging for answers.

I don’t know why I didn’t have any of these problems, maybe because I had all the extensions and add-on’s in the older versions of fire fox. And it kept it all as it upgraded?
    *shrugs*
