Few hours back Apple has released a new firmware 3.0.1 for iPhone 3G, 3GS & 2G, do not confuse this with iPhone OS 3.1 which is still under development and beta 3 was release few days back. iPhone OS 3.0.1 has been release to fix SMS vulnerability which was discovered by Chris Miller and disclosed as at yesterday’s Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vega.

Considering High Severity of SMS Vulnerability and it can allow attacker to gain control of whole iPhone it becomes mandatory to upgrade to OS 3.0.1. We are sure the next question which is in your mind, will upgrading to iPhone OS 3.0.1 will lose jailbreak and unlocked ?

Well indeed after you upgrade your iPhone 3G/3GS 3.0 to 3.0.1 you will lose your Jailbreak & Unlocked but there is no need to worry as you can still you iPhone Dev team’s tool Redsn0w 0.8 and ultrasn0w 0.9 to jailbreak and unlock iPhone OS 3.0.1.

It has been confirmed by iPhone Dev team that Redsn0w 0.8 & Ultrasn0w 0.9 still works on iPhone OS 3.0.1 and iPhone 3GS. So go ahead upgrade your iPhoneto OS 3.0.1.

How to Jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0.1 with Redsn0w 0.8

The procedure to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0.1 is same but just one change you still need to point to OS 3.0 firmware,

1. Download iPhone OS 3.0

Download iPhone firmware 3.0 (filename: iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw)

Download iPhone 3G firmware 3.0 (filename: iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw)

Download iPhone 3GS firmware 3.0 (filename: iPhone2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw )

2. Download Redsn0w 0.8

3. Follow onscreen instructions andwhen you get the promot to select the firmware, choose the 3.0 firmware instead of the 3.0.1 firmware. This is safe and it works!

    Hi there.

    I had a problem and got this error message when reinstallig my old apps after the 3.0.1 Jailbreak: 0xE8008001 and couldn’t install.

    Solution:

    Assuming the jailbreak worked and you have Cydia but you cant sync:

    Open Cydia > Manage > Sources > Edit
    Add source “http(colon)//cydia(dot)hackulo(dot)us” cant post links >. Hackulo.us > “AppSync for OS3.0″ > Read info
    Install > done.

    Change the file extension from “.zip” to “.ipsw”

    YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAND THE FILE WITH MOZILLA FIREFOX PEOPLE, im sick of these tutorials not telling u that, internet explorer saves it as a zip file. iv been trying to jailbreak my iphone 3gs for 3 days now, redsnow either crashes, or my iphone wont reboot after it works, iv tried it on vista xp and mac, mac is the only one redsnow worked on, this is bullshit!!!!! for starters u have to hold down the home button until it reboots i found so when “connect to itunes” come ups keep holding home until after it reboots, NOONE TOLD ME THIS, i need help if anyone has any experience with this help me please, iv tried 3 computers, downloaded firmware 3 times, downloaded redsnow 6 times, still it just crashes?? iv restored my iphone twice, updated it to 3.0.1 twice, it doesnt work im about to give up
