Unlock iPhone 3GS 3.0 with Purplesn0w

Once again Geohot is back with one more powerful tool and this time here is Purplesn0w a new iPhone 3GS 3.0 unlock tool. The major difference between Ultrasn0w iPhone Dev team unlock tool and Purplesn0w Geohot Unlock tool is Ultrasn0w is Demon which starts every time when you reboot your iPhone where as Purplesn0w is close to true soft unlock.

Purplesn0w patches just three files, CommCenter, lockdownd, and wildcard activation plist. Unfortunately no hacktivation support yet. You must first activate your iPhone 3GS with At&T SIM.

Purplesn0w is still in beta stage hence you must backup your iPhone 3GS and follow below steps to install purplesn0w.Be sure to have legit activated 3GS

1. Disable 3G if you don’t have it(like T-Mobile).

2. Add apt.geohot.com to Cydia Add Package source list

3. Install com.geohot.purplesn0w

4. Watch for success output in Cydia

Reboot, and enjoy your unlocked iPhone

    hi everyone, Got my new iphone 3GS (no contract )from states,i stay in saudi arabia. I have jailbreaken the phone using the redsn0w and tried to install ultrasn0w but cydia keep giving me this error message of size mismatch. later installed purplesn0w for unlocking the iphone and it got installed. But the problem is that i have inserted my sawa( saudi stc) sim in the iphone but the network is not there, is there something i have missed or overlooked, any suggestions or comments are welcome. Appreciate your efforts in advance.,

    p.s. forgot to mention that before jailbreaking i have added some songs from itunes on it, later while jailbreaking kept the at&t sim, not much sure about which sim should be present whether the one i want to use or the at&t one. it looks in the cydia that purplesn0w has been installed but i am unable to get the network signal.
