How To Jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.0 with QuickPWN on Windows & Mac

iPhone OS 3.0 software update is officially released and you can upgrade your iPhone to firmware 3.0. iPod Touch users can use this guide to update to OS 3.0 for free. Here is iPhone OS 3.0 features list and it’s worth to upgrading to OS 3.0.
iPhone Dev team has is almost ready with QuickPWN & Pwnagetool for jailbreaking iPhone 3G OS 3.0 as well as ultrasn0w tool to soft unlock iPhone 3G 3.0 is getting ready. Soon QuickPWN for iPhone OS 3.0 will release and you can jailbreak your iPhone 3G firmware 3.0.
We have prepared this guide based on our iPhone OS 2.2.1 Jailbreak Guide, please keep in mind that QuickPWN is not yet released and we will update this post with download link once it’s available for download.
Use PwnageTool 3.0 to Jailbreak iPhone 3G OS 3.0 if you want to preserve your Baseband
Note:
1. For easier understanding we are assuming “QuickPWN 3.0″ is the tool for jailbreaking iPhone 3G/2G OS 3.0.
2. We assume you have installed iTunes 8.2 if not then you must install iTunes 8.2
How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.0 with QuickPWN 3.0 on Windows & Mac
1. Download iPhone 3G 3.0 software update and save it on your computer (Preferably create a folder QuickPWN 3.0 and save in that folder (This is just for simplicity)
2. Download QuickPWN 3.0 latest iPhone firmware 3.0 jailbreak tool.
3. Unzip QuickPWN 3.0 in a folder created on 1st step.
4. Connect your iPhone to your commuter.
5. iTunes should detect your iPhone
6. Now you can either update iPhone 3G to 3.0 or Restore Firmware 3.0 ipsw. Its better to restore to have fresh & clean firmware installation. (backup your iPhone before proceeding for restore)
7. Once you have finished with Restoring/Updating iPhone to OS 3.0 software update launch QuickPWN 3.0 downloaded in step 2.
8. QuickPWN 3.0 will automatically detect your iPhone, now browser and locate iPhone OS 3.0 software update downloaded in step 1.
9. QuickPWN 3.0 will display a green checkmark if the firmware is correct.
10. Using QuickPWN 3.0 install Cydia Installer on your iPhone3G. Select at least Cydia from menu, then click the blue arrow to continue.
11. QuickPWN 3.0 will prompt “please make sure your device is connected via USB before continuing” click the blue arrow to continue.
12. QuickPwn 3.0 will now automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode. Once it is in recovery mode you will be asked to press following key sequence.
- Hold the Home button for 5 seconds,
- Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds,
- Then release the Power button while continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode
13. If you have followed above steps correctly, QuickPWN 3.0 will detect your iPhone in recovery mode and will ask you to “wait while your iPhone is prepared for jailbreaking”.
14 Now wait for QuickPWN 3.0 Message “The pwnage process appears to have completed successfully. Please wait for your device to reboot in its newly modified state”.
15. That’s it you have Successfully Jailbreaked your iPhone 3G 3.0 Firmware
In order to Unlock iPhone 3G 3.0 you must jailbreak your iPhone 3G 3.0 first using above guide.

I updated by mistake my iPhone 2G with 3.0 7A341 firmware. It was jailbraked already with 2.2.1. Now my phone is locked; i can receive calls, but it’s need his autenthication stuff. Can’t downgrade to 2.2.1. iTunes 8.2 give error 20 and old versions of iTunes can’t recognize the phone in Recovery Mode (the USB driver is not installing). I reinstalled my Windows, i got the same result. So, now i just sit and “relax” and hope that you guys come with the solution. :)

What a waste of blog space.
It doesnt seem to work. Ive been trying for ages and i keep getting the error:
“The IPSW file you selected does not match any firmware version QuickPwn supports. Either the IPSW file is corrupted, or the firmware version is unsupported”
I am sure the IPSW file works as i have 2 different copies and have successfully restored my phone previously.
Please can someone help?

make sure you use the custom ipsw with these tut if you use the official ipsw you will not be able to use ultrasnOw.
^^^^ I have the same problem! Seems i upgraded to 3.0 on iphone 2g but the phone is stuck on the emergency screen and dont know how to activate? I have tmobile! The bars are full and tmobile carrier logo up?

I just came across a page that says you can jailbreak & unlock your iphone 2g running 3.0 firmware using RedSnOw on windows.It also says you wil need RedSnOw 0.7.1 continuing it says also you need the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloader files once you have downloaded everything, extract RedSnOw-win0.7.1 to a location on your computer you then should see RedSnOw.exe run it. Is there truth to this method for jailbreaking and unlocking the iphone 3g with the 3.0 firmware already insatalled on the iphone can you let me no because i was under the assumption that it could only be done using quickpwn hope to hear a response soon thx dev team. I got my Iphone G3 , it was version 2.2.1 and I restore to Version 3.0 on itune , it is fine and get calls and I can send SMS but I can not make calls

Im trying to Jailbreak my 3g 3.0 using Redsnow, when i get to step 3, the phone is not being read…it keeps counting down to 0 seconds and it will say error, reference youtube or google for help…can someone please help me? edbtz83@hotmail.com

I just updated my 2G iphone to 3.0 from the iTunes update.
Like mentioned above I get the message “invalid SIM..” when connecting to itunes.
I tried Redsnows jailbraking but when the reboot is supposed to be made (pressing on and home for 10 secs and then releasing on button) windows doesnt recognize the hardware and asks for a valid usb driver. Any hints on how to fix thís prob?

guys none of the games and app working on fw2.2.1 are working on 3.0 even after jailbreak. pl help me wat to do. wr to find apps n games for itouch 3.0… without it ipod looks so boar man..
