How to Upgrade iPhone 3G 2.2/2.2.1 to 3.0 Firmware

i am in uae i am trying toi connect for update but itunes is telling there is no update availabale my firmware is 2.2.1 and 3g iphone can you plz tellme wht to do now ?

I’ve tried doing it but it says 2.2.1 is the latest update?
Is it cus I’m in spain and It hasnt arrived here yet….

Hi, I am having an unlocked iphone 2g and tried to upgrade to os 3.0 through the itunes. It got stuck up and itunes says that my iphone is not detected and having some problems. I am not able to use my iphone any more. Can you pls help?

if u upgrade to 3.0 do u loose all past data and lock the phone. Am from the Caribbean.

I updated my iTunes to 8.2 so I could update my Iphone version from 2.2.1 to 3.0 but while my phone was syncing the version in my computer shutdown and sync stopped and I repeated the same process again but still no new upgrade to my phone

Im currently using an iphone 2g, and i have a 3g that’s unlocked on 2.2.1 and i would like to get rid of the 2g and begin using the 3g, however the 3g isnt unlocked yet and when i connected it to itunes its asking me if i want to restore from the backup of my old iphone or if i want to set up as a new iphone..which should i select? and also should i upgrade my 3g from 2.2.1 to 3.0 before unlocking?

I upgraded my G2 iPhone to OS 3 today, but could not get the internet to work.

I used pwnagetool_3.0 to jail brake and unlock it, but still no access to the internet.

Is there one or more apps I need to install from Cydia that will allow me activate the cellular data network?

i have tried many time to jailbreak through quickpwn

quickpwn – wailt for your iphone to connect in recovery mode- showin preparing your device

more than 1.30hr it was in that stage only it did not ask me to the steps shown in the quickpwn..

i decided to do by manualy, so i did the steps which is shown in quickpwn then it went power off then it went to DFU mode

everything went fine quichpwn said finished..but still my iphone cannot detect my sim card…

what i have to do

i don’t have any AT&T sim card…so how i can jailbreak with indian sim.

give me the step by step guide

I have almost the same problem as Sara here.
I HAVE had my 3G 2.2.1 Modem2.30.03 jailbroken BUT it still says Invalid SIM when I try to put my Orange UK SIM in.
I installed Cydia but don’t know how to use it???

Is there anyone that could explain to me (as if I was a retard) how to unlock my 3G 2.2.1 to work with any SIM card.

I do not have a o2 SIM card to put in the phone.

I would be VERY VERY greatfull if someone could help me with this…

Could someone please help me out.
I am currently on 2.2.1 with 02.28.00.
I would like to upgrade to 3.0.1.
Now here is the question:
Can I upgrade and still keep the 02.28.00 to have it unlocked for any SIM card or would it become locked again???
I have heard that someone upgraded the 02.28.00 to 4. something and then used ultrasn0w 0.9, would this work?

How should i go around this one?
