The first day of Apple WWDC 2009 was very exciting, finally the rumors of new iPhone hardware are turned into reality. iPhone 3GS is the New Apple iPhone and we have already listed features of iPhone 3GS. Along with iPhone 3GS announcement, iPhone OS 3.0 release date and features was also discussed at WWDC 2009.
OS 3.0 is the latest firmware for iPhone 2g, 3g & iPod Touch. The release date of OS 3.0 is June 17th and will be available at free of cost for iPhone 2G & 3G users but iPod users need to pay 29$ for upgrading to firmware 3.0.
Apple has also started seeding iPhone OS 3.0 7A341 Gold Master (GM) to developers. While developers can start testing iPhone OS 3.0 GM version, normal users have to wait till 17th June.
As it happened with all Beta builds of iPhone OS 3.0, iPhone OS 3.0 GM is also leaked on popular torrent websites & available for download. However read below warning before attempting to download & install OS 3.0 GM version.
This version of iPhone OS 3.0 should only be deployed on devices dedicated for iPhone OS 3.0 GM Seed software development. By installing iPhone OS 3.0 GM Seed software on your Authorized Test Devices, these Devices are permanently “locked” into testing mode and cannot be restored to an earlier release of iPhone OS. Bear this in mind before installing the software.

It just means you cannot downgrade (easily anyways). You can run this and then just update if apple makes changes to the final GM. If not; your set.

You are wrong sir, there is no problem with doing that, of course without using quickpwn and stuff, only itunes.
Some say that this leak is someway controlled by apple – just like microsoft windows 7 release cadidates – available for “tech enthusiasts”.
ive already updated and it works fine. im not bricked or anything. runs clean, and if there is a new update (for anyone else who has downloaded 3.0) just upgrade
ok so i have a question, if i did upgrade to this 3.0 GM i will have problems upgrading to the real 3.0 version or whats the point here?
