Wordpress Vs B2evolution

Today i have moved my blog to Wordpress from b2evolution.primary reason for moving to Wordpress and removing B2evolution lake of b2evo documentation for customizing Blog skin and no decent Theme of b2evo. I am really happy with Wordpress hell lots of features and plugins. I guess i will be having great time with blogging

As I said I have moved my blog from b2evolution to wordpress .let me discuss more about this.
My web hosting service provides me three different blogging tool
- Wordpress
- Nucleus
- B2evolution
I was aware of wordpress but other two was new for me so I decided to have a look on those blogging tools. After visiting home site and screenshot I felt like b2evolution is good blogging tool and immediately installed on my webhosting server with Fantastico De Luxe
Version provided by my webhosting is 1.10.2

Short Description of B2evolution:- A blog script featuring multiple blogs, categories/sub-categories, skins, search function, multiple languages, search engines friendly URLs.
After installing b2evolution I started experimenting and googled for SEO friendly skin of b2evolution and some good plugins but my search ended up with frustration. Skins for b2evo were not up to mark though plugins were quite good. I gave second thought of modifying b2evolution template and creating my own skin. So I started looking around how to create skins for b2evo.It was likely that I had to change code of b2evo. So referencing documentation of b2evolution was vital for me my frustration went to Everest height when I saw documentation of b2evolution is still under progress and its not complete yet and I decided to uninstall it.
Only left option for me was Wordpress and I think that option was way better and perfect blogging tool, added to this simplr skin is what i was looking for. I am going to change some of code to make it more SEO friendly and will post it under simplr hack section. I just loved the documentation of wordpress. Documentation is so much fine grained that you can get all information about every single php function used in wordpress core files and themes. One greatest part about wordpress is User Community; you will get solution of any problem related to wordpress blog in few clicks.
Wordpress Code is written in very simplified manner. Each page is used for specific purpose (Modular Programming) like Header.php as the name goes you can easily guess this is going to display header part of your blog. Comments on every page of wordpress helps a lot for locating the code section which you want to modify.
All in over all I will give Four stars out of Five to Wordpress :)

Hi. Thanks for this. My web host (Lunar Pages) also offers the same three options and I was sitting there wondering which one to go for so googled and got your post. So will give Wordpress a go. Thanks
Hi, I too had those 3 options, however i tried wordpress first. I found it heavy and slow. No ajax either. Ajax plugins did’nt work too, though the skins available are awesome.
So i tried out b2 evo. I must say that its exceptionally light on your net connection. Also very easy to use. The only thing is lack of enough skins and a strong community to back u up. But its a very easy software to use, also no bugs to date. Right now i’m using both blog softwares on different subdomains – wordpress for the ‘look’ and b2evo for the ‘ease’ lol. I think those guys at b2 need strong designer support and then it’l be better than wordpress.

Word press is great
when i was reviewing blogging tools for my website, wp and b2evo were my last 2 choices. i like wp because it has more skins, but i ended up with b2 because of its mult blogs feature. imo coding skin for both tools are quite similar. have to agree with the lack of documentation for b2. so i created a new skin based on an existing skin.
I’m new to blogging. I’ve been using WP for last couple of days. It seems to me great. I just didn’t have much ideas about b2evolutions. I just visited their site and it seems to me that I should test b2evolution for a while. I will surely give it a try.

Backtracking the releases of b2evolution, I found the following:
January 23, 2008: 2.4.0 “Venetian”
March 17, 2008: 2.4.1 “Nevada”
April 28, 2008: 2.4.2 “Palms”
September 19, 2008: 2.4.5 “Monument Valley”
January 12, 2009: 2.4.6 “New Year”
b2evolution v3.0.0 has been under development for some months now and it is looking very good.
Try to use the latest b2evolution (or MovableType) then do a new comparison. ^_^
By the way, I am curious, what version of WordPress did you use to compare to an old version of b2evolution?
Oh and try MovableType, you will love it for sure, especially if Skinning/Skins is your major criteria.

I tried b2evo first and I like them. The community of b2evo is smaller than the wp, once there are fewer skins and plugins. Since you like a b2evo plugin, b2evo is the best!!!
We been testing the tree- Worldpress for alot of our clients needing both rss and blog it seems to give return plus it has a larger support
Well.. My first choice was b2evo later I tried wordpress… but b2evo was more than what I expected from a blog script.. wordpress is simple but not upto a modern blog.. And the multi blog feature in b2evo is awsome.. and the backoffice in b2evo is much better and simple than that of wp.. I support b2evo..
I have used both software for my website and I think Nucleus is much easy to use. Easy Installation plenty of plugins and most important for me easy to modify, great support.
I always suggest everyone to use Nucleus

I am aware of PHP and its functions. I can even write a few complicated scripts.
I am aware of all these BLOG’s mentioned, but I have never had a hand with them.
But now iguess even i need to try out all these things…
