WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messengers on the Smartphones. Unlike other similar apps, there are no desktop clients available for this application. A few months back, the WhatsApp team introduced web access for Android, Windows Phones and Blackberry. A couple of weeks back, I wrote about Messenger for Mac, which will bring the Facebook Messenger site to your Mac’s desktop. WhatsMac, used the same concept and brought the WhatsApp Web to Mac OS X.
WhatsMac, is an open source app available on GitHub. So, you can see the entire code and download the latest version of the app from the developer’s page on GitHub.
Note: Since, WhatsApp web support is available only for Android, Windows Phones, and Blackberry, WhatsMac also support the same. iPhone users cannot use WhatsApp in this application.
How To Use WhatsApp on Mac OS X
Step 1: WhatsMac, is a very small application and the installation will be pretty quick. Once you complete the installation, you will see the same log in screen as you see on the WhatsApp web.
Step 2: The connection procedures are similar to WhatsApp web. Both your Mac and your Smartphone have to be connected to the same WiFi network and scan the QR Code to log in to your WhatsApp account.
If you are using Mobile data, you can enable wireless tethering and connect your Smartphone and Mac with the application.
The home page of WhatsMac will be an exact clone of the WhatsApp Web app. So, if you are a regular user of WhatsApp web, then WhatsMac will feel like home. All the settings and options of the app will be available on the top menu bar. So, you will not have any problems in understanding the application.
If you don’t want to open your browser everytime to access WhatsApp on your PC, then WhatsMac is a best choice. It will be a handy application, just stay in your dock and lets you access all the WhatsApp conversations instantly. So, try this app on your Mac and share your experience with us in the comments.
