Twitter is one of the important sources of breaking news and trending stories on the Internet. When you have more than thousand followers, managing your Twitter timeline will be more tedious. Twitter has some default options like Turn off Retweets, block, etc., to avoid the unwanted tweets from your timeline, but sometimes that will not be enough. Twitter has plenty of add-ons available to organize your timeline. Today I’ve come with one such tool called “Shush” for Google Chrome, which can block tweets from your timeline based on a particular keyword. Here’s how it works.
Shush is a free extension for Chrome, which acts an add-on for your Twitter account. You can download Shush using the link at the end of this post. Once you complete the installation, you will not see any icons in the front, but the app will be running in the background. It will work only when you open your Twitter account. To block tweets based on a particular keyword, first you need to go to your Twitter account. After you open Twitter, you will see the “Shush Icon” in your Chrome’s URL bar as shown in the screenshot above.
The interface is pretty simple and easy to understand. Just enter the keyword in the text box and click “Add Word to Shushed Word List”. You can add any number and combination of keywords to block the tweets. The app will not completely block the tweets. It will hide that tweet and display a message as shown in the screenshot below. So, if you want, you can click to open the tweet and read. This feature will be very helpful for TV Series and Movie fans. If you don’t want spoilers from your favorite TV Show or a movie, you can use this Shush extension on your browser, to hide them.
Also, if someone tweeting offensive things or the content you don’t like, just use this tool to hide the tweets, instead of blocking or unfollowing them. All the added keywords can be removed individually or completely with the help of options in the window. If Twitter is your primary social network, you should definitely give a shot on this extension in your browser. Also, don’t forget to share your views about the app in the comments.
