Convert Scanned Images to Office DocX

We often need to scan important documents, papers, project reports, certificates etc. if you need to edit these scanned documents then only option is to convert this scanned document to office doc files. You may try free or paid OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to convert scanned images to editable documents.

Here is one such freeware open source software, images2openXML which converts scanned documents to Office 2007 new format (OpenXML) using Office 2007 OCR engine & OpenXML. Images2OpenXML is still in its alpha release.

You need to have following software installed in order to use Images2OpenXML

1. Visual Studio 2008

2. .NET Framework 3.5

3. OpenXML SDK 1.0

4. Office 2007

You also required to install Microsoft Office Document Imaging 12.0 Type Library which comes with office 2007 but doesn’t gets installed by default.
