Windows 8 Metro UI is completely different from its previous versions. Some of the important options available in Windows 7 were moved to different places and many users found it difficult to access them. In the first version of Windows 8, finding the “Shut down” button has become a serious issue. So, Microsoft quickly fixed them and brought some of the important options to the front in the new Windows 8.1 update. There are many tools like Sticky tiles and battery level apps available in Windows store to add useful options on the Start screen. Start Screen Unlimited is one such app for Windows 8 to quickly customize and add useful options on the home screen. Here’s how it works.
Start Screen Unlimited has both free and premium versions. The free version of the app has some limitations in the features and gadgets you can add to the home screen. If you like the free version, you can purchase the premium app for $20 on the website. Once you complete the installation, it will show you a window with instructions as shown in the screenshot above. The quick menu of the app will be available on the top of your start screen. It contains the Power Button, Settings and Help. Since Power button is the toughest one to find on Windows 8, it is available first on the app menu. In the second option “Settings”, you can access the “Control Panel” of the app and “Quit” Start screen unlimited application. In the “Help” section, you can send feedback, update, and activate the product license.
Next to the short menu, you will see a search bar, which helps you to search directly on Google. This bar will let you search quickly without opening your browser. Next to the search box, you have the current date and time for quick reference. Apart from these default features, there are plenty of widgets available on the application. It includes 3D menus, weather widgets and much more for your start screen. Similar to gadgets on Windows 7 desktop, you can drag and move them anywhere on the start screen.
These gadgets and widgets will add more useful options to your Start Screen. If you think your Windows 8 is not much useful, you can try this add-on in your PC. Also, share your opinion about the app in the comments. Thanks for reading, do share this post with your friends.
