Lately I have seen many users having issue with windows vista sidebar where vista sidebar crashes and stops working without any reason. There are hundreds of threads on many forums where users seeking for fix of vista sidebar crashing.
The typical users facing Vista Sidebar crash are those who have recently upgraded from Window XP to Window vista. There are some users having Sidebar crash on Vista 64-bit. After searching for fix I found there is no proper fix for vista sidebar crash available but couple of solutions which worked for some users are listed here.
Fix Windows Vista Sidebar Crashes
1. If you have installed any spyware removal tool, antivirus like Kaspersky or any non compatible Vista application then try to remove those.
2. Uninstall/delete all vista sidebar Gadgets. After that Run sfc/ scannow & Reboot.
3. Uninstall all Third party Vista Sidebar Gadget.
4. Reset Vista Sidebar to default setting.
Follow Below Steps for Resetting Vista Sidebar to Default Settings
a. Right Click on Sidebar Icon in your system tray and select exit.
b. Check in your Task manager Process list sidebar.exe, it should not be running. If its running then right click on process and end process.
c. Copy “%localappdata%\microsoft\Windows Sidebar” and past in your Windows Explorer.
d. Rename Setting.ini file to settingbackup.ini present at above location.
e. Now restart your sidebar from start menu. (you need to again add all your sidebar gadgets).
