Google has come up with new search engine hint which is going to take out your duplicated content worrier. What is this Duplicate content ? There are several instances where your blog or website has similar content for different products or your content is accessible with multiple urls.

Now if you think from Google Search point of view every URL is treated as separate webpage but in reality its same content access through different path. In such cases it may be possible that google will penalize you for producing duplicate content. Even thought it is present on your own domain. But now you don’t have to worry as Google now support a format that allows you to publicly specify your preferred version of a URL. This format provides you with more control over the URL returned in search results. It also helps to make sure that properties such as link popularity are consolidated to your preferred version.

rel=”canonical” is the new search engine hit which you need to specify in <head> section of the duplicate content URLs.
