Emails have become a part of our day to day activities. It carries all our personal and work related discussions in it. In that Gmail is one of the widely used email services on the Internet. There are apps available to convert your email as a reminder tool for all your works. Also we can create to-do lists using Gmail conversations and convert our Inbox into a task manager. Today I came with one such application called “Signal” to edit and convert your Gmail conversations into to-dos. It is a chrome extension, which lets you edit the messages in your Inbox. Here’s how to do it.
You can download Signal from Chrome web store using the link below. Once you complete the installation, it won’t show up any icons in the front, it will be running in the background. Just refresh your Gmail account, if you have logged in already. Once you refresh it, you can see the “Welcome” window of the extension. In that window, click “Authorize Signal” button to accept the app connection with your Gmail account. After connecting it, the button will turn green and confirm the extension connected with your Gmail account.
Also there are few instructions available to use the app. The first change you will notice after installing the extension is, there will three more buttons in the top menu bar when you open a mail. You will see “Edit, Highlight and Restore” options near “More” on the menu bar. The app lets you edit the subject and content of any mail in your Inbox as you wish. To do that Click “Edit” option in the menu and start editing the subject and body of the email. For instance, if you want to convert an email in your Inbox as a reminder, using this option just edit the text to be displayed in the front as shown in the screenshot below.
The “Highlight” option is much more comfortable than editing the whole content of an email. Click “Highlight” option in the top menu bar and start selecting the content you want to display in the Inbox. Only the selected text alone will be displayed. You can “Revert or Restore” the changes using the third option in the menu. If you have edited an email, you can restore the original content using this option. Though it looks very simple, for people who use Gmail for all their business and personal works, this extension will be very helpful.
Signal team is working on a new feature to present the most relevant information for auto-generated emails. Also, it quickly syncs with all chrome browsers with Signal extension installed. So, try this app in your browser and share your experience with us in the comments. Thanks for reading, do share this post with your friends.
