This is bs, yellowsnow 0.9.8 doesn’t unlock 02.30.03 baseband. I don’t know what they are talking about. I hope the dev team is working on an unlock for 2.2.1, but it doesn’t really look like it for now.

Anyone hoping to use a different operator sim to the what the phone is locked too have to wait if using baseband 2.30.03, there is nothing officially out there. I have heard rumours of testing but i dont know.

In the mean time if you want a quick fix go out and buy a rebel sim card, you can get one for like £12, im currently using it with Vodafone UK, and although it will not work on FULL 3G, it works albeit slightly slower when browsing.

Do anyone know if there are ANY sim that actually works with the 2.30 baseband?
As far as I have read and understood the Rebel SIM is working for a few people (but not many), and some people have stated that the MAXSIM should work, but here are others also.
It would be nice if you can use a SIM unlock until our friends DevTeam has a solution to our problem.

Btw, I bought a new Iphone and made the mistake not to read up on the unlocking business before upgrading upon the first connect to itunes… Maybe stupid but stop laughing at us morons, we are sad enugh as it is :)

I’m here waiting too… At the moment I’m using a REBEL simcard to unlock it. It works cool but some SIM applications don’t work, the Voicemail number isn’t automatically recognized neither. And sometimes (with Orange carrier) if I go too far the REBEL simcard loses contact with the carrier, then I have to pull out the Orange simcard put it into an unlocked phone and then put it back to the iphone with the REBEL to be working again. It’s very annoying, but at least I’m using my iphone until the cool solution comes.

I am in dire need of that unlock for BB 2.30.03.

I have tried all methods i could find on the internet to downgrade baseband along with firmware. nothing…

Dear Friends

Im also stuck with 3g baseband 2.30.03. I have searched with local mobile repairers and also searched almost every single Forum available online.

To be honest, i dont think dev will be able to unlock this one, cause this 2.2.1 versions is released from the apple to cease the ability of yellowsnow to unlock iphone 3g ( New safari stability etc are just to bluff) .

As, our beloved DEV team has been taking advantage of some holes and flaws by apple in their previous versions. It will be very difficult for any one or any organization to unlock the new baseband.

However, my aim is not to make all of you hopeless but i want you to be focused on real solution to this common problem. The only solution available at this time is to used Unlock sims, i have tried universal, turbo and Rebel sim card, but they are all of no use.

All thease sims are origninally manufactured in China. And then been sold in uk, USa etc with different claims.

But the best among them is Rebel sim card with it i got signals for one day but then no service. The reason why im saying Rebel is good because rebelsimcard.com which claims to be original manufacturer of Rebel sim Card as UK based firm is working to make rebel sim card work properly by offering upgrade to all their sims owners. And i expect they will shortly find a propoer solution to make it work properly.

Meanwhile, my studied showed me that rebel does work for people in different countries with different carriers. So it might work for you.

And i dont mean to hurt anyone feelings, but i have to tell the truth that dev team is not likely to come with the solution this time. If they do, then they deserve to be called Apple Matser.

Meanwhile anyone with a real and fruitful information regarding ecpected solutions, current solutions or any other idea regarding 2.30.03 can discuss with me. I will keep on checking this post will answer in the comments. Please feel free to ask anything.

In the same 02.30.03 boat as all of you obviously. Waiting for The Dev team to Wow us again. BUT Im wondering if I could just start from scratch and Restore, downgrade, jailbreak again and try yellowsn0w ..? Any thoughts? I don’t want to have to to all of that over again but if it will work i will. Im impatient but very grateful for the dev team , as I am already traveling and can’t use my beloved iphone 3g but my spare 4 year old nokia! :( :( :( such a shame.

But dont be dissappointed, cause a solution is there like rebel sim card, bit 3g card,and turbo they all work fine but of course you have to reset sim keys

Hey look at me, I just bought the unlock 3g iphone 1 day ago before I connect to itune asking me to update the software, I didn’t aware about this as I very new, so I just waste $700 in one day.

yes, chell is rite andy is just enjoying by lying. However, it no big problem the solution ( I mean a complete stable solution) will be out very soon. Also today I tried a 3g unlock sim which I bought from the market. It is no cut version an also it is thin as compared to rebel and other sims. It worked well through out day I travelled more than 10 miles from
home and u know wat no errors, no sim kEys reset. The name on the unlock sim is mentioned as BIT 3g sim. But it is cool as no cut and no tape as it is too thin and easy to inject And add along with my carrier sim.

I will keep you all update on unlock sims behaviour and any expected soft unlock solution for 2.30.03

So downgrading will downgrade the baseband as well as the firmware? I heard that you will downgrade the firmware but the baseband with stay 02.30.03… if so then its pointless right? Just covering all the bases before I go through all this work… And if it does work how come no one else seems to want to try it?
I would totally buy the rebel sim.. but i have no credit card and Im in Milan with no known sellers of such a thing…any ideas?

If you down grade to any firmware version the baseband will indeed stay the same 02.30.03 as I spent a full day downgrading-quick pwn,downgrading-quick pwn,downgrading-quick pwn,downgrading-quick pwn and the baseband didnt move. I bought a rebel sim from ebay for €12 inc delivery from Uk to Ireland! It works fine on all networks except vodafone as it crashes quite a bit, I am on 02 though so it works fine for me, just plug and play, no cutting or code changing etc. Ill go on to my ebay account and send you the link to his shop if you like?
Dev will defo have something soon, just look at all the cracks in the past and there will be loads more to come id say. Remember when the 1.1.4 came out for the 2g and apple said it will never be cracked….and all the updates after that… keep calm.

I mean, I am by no means a wiz at all of this, but I’ve researched a lot and I think there’s no way that this is un-crackable by the Dev team.. maybe harder than usual so we have some impatient people now. I too am eager to use my phone while abroad so i think I will try this Rebel sim.. but , again…no credit card…. I would like any help you can give me!

Sorry for late response but I will now check this post regularly.

First to Amanda the is no downgrading will not downgrade the baseband. Firmware can be downgraded but baseband cannot.

Second to michelle and marie please try to buy it from a local mobile accessories shop near you cause u may experience problems with it. As far as my opinion goes you can use any unlock sim rebel sim, turbo sim and BIT sim they are should work.

They are all originally manufactured in china no matter wat one says. They will work fine with 2g settings but it you are planning to use 3g on your iphone then it is not possible.

you can jailbreak it no problem but the base band will still be locked! You will need to jailbreak it anyway in order to use the new yellow snow(when ever it comes out) as you need cydia or installer to instal yellow snow.

I’m using Rebel Sim card bought off ebay in Pakistan. Working on Mobilink and Ufone. Haven’t checked other networks. But it works all right, best option right now untill the official unlock comes out.

People just go on ebay and buy the turbo sim card number 2 for iphone 3g firmware 2.2.1 till dev team updates YS it only costs $10

hello friends i have a one solution to downgrade the iphone 3g firmware 2.30.03 to 02.28.00
but use at ur own risk

How to work with Iphone 3G 2.2.1/2.30 modem
Do this at your own risk.

must haves:
1. wireless router connection
2. WINSCP
3. Toggle ssh, mobile terminal, automatic ssh (available from cydia via wifi)

howto:
1. Downgrade your 2.2.1 Iphone to 2.2, during downgrading some error will occur—that’s ok
2. Do quickPwn2.2 procedures (U must know it by now, else, start from reading howto unlock/jailbreak the Iphone thru quickpwn)phone is in DFU btw.
3. unlock using yellowsnow.
4. install automatic ssh then Toggle ssh
5. Now install WINscp to your PC and mobile terminal
6. Open and ENABLE Toggle ssh

HOST NAME: your Iphone’s IP
USER NAME: root
PASSWORD: alpine
7. Save and Close. Then Open again to login: password: alpine
8. Your on the Iphone’s Root, we will now be copying the files (attached).

9. /system/library/audio/uisounds copy paste this file…
10. then /var/root/ this file…
11. after that go to system/liblary/launchDaemons/com.apple.commcenter.plist ( rigth click)
properties on the box Octal enter 755 then click OK

12. Turnoff Iphone. Exit Winscp
13. Open mobile terminal

14. type su
15. Password: alpine
16. ype: chmod 755 BBUpdaterExtreme
17. Type: ./BBUpdaterExtreme update -f ICE2_02.28.00.fls -e ICE2_02.28.00.eep
18. Restart the iPhone

19. Phone will power on after a loooong wait
20. Done. Drink your Beer!

Just from other people discussing the procedure I assumed it is dodgy. But just to see the settings you have to change seems dangerous. Maby if it went wrong you could just reload the firmware through itunes or something…?

Any news on unlocking Version 2.2.1 and baseband 02.30.03… i want to use it with T-Mobile!!!!!

I searched searched and searched and still searching for jailbraking and unlocking my iphone 3g 2.2.1 with baseband 02.30.03 but no luck :(
I finally end up on this website thinking some nice will be kind enough to let me know if there is any solution available right now or in near future to my email cyberman7@gmail.com

until then i will clean my iphone every morning and will rest it in peace in the original iphone casket and will pray for its speedy recovery to come out of comma one day and alive so that I can spend rest of my life with my iphone happily ever after lol

I finally did it.
Thanks to the guys at iClarified. AWESOME.
I now have an Iphone 3g with firmware 2.2.1 and baseband downgraded to 2.28 which i simply yellosnowed.
Now I can throw away my Rebel Sim.
Yipeee.

Im on bootloader 5.9, as is the majority of iPhone 3G users, some also on 6.02 if im correct?

No way to downgrade this at the moment unfortunately either. Im waiting for them to release something – i presume it will be in a few weeks as if they got this far im sure they can do it for 5.9 as well.

I had to jail break my phone last night just to find out the bootloader and then realise i can’t even downgrade :-(

I have followed the instruction on iClarified, but can not get to the terminal as it doesn’t appear on the springboard.

Could this be a problem with my BootLoader? Help if you can please :-(

Simple man, just go to cydia and in the search type “terminal”. You should see it, download it and you shall have it on your springboard. Cheers.

It doesn seem to work, the boot keeps timing out in the mobile terminal and is failing to boot and downgrade the BB. Could it be that my wireless networks bandwidth is too small to downgrade my BB or is it that my BL is higher than 5.8?

It’s because ur Boatloader is higher than 5.8 most probably it’s 5.9
Same thing happened with me. I tried and it didn’t work cause my boatloader is 5.9 but i wanted to try anyway cause i was desperate.
You should have checked ur boatloader first.

Hey guys,i recently restored my unlocked iphone 3G version 2.2.1 baseband 2.28 using iTunes.now my phone is locked n I have the bootloader 5.09. I was wonderin if therz any solution for this and also if upgrading thru iTunes upgrades bootloader too cz before upgrading my phone was unlocked though I dnt knw its previous bootloader.help me guys

This worked for me for the last 3 months(since the damn upgrade)
X-sim 3g 2.2.1 BB 2.30.03 unlocker

restored to 2.2 and jailbroken while the sim card (mobinil egypt) and the x-sim installed in the phone (i heard that this is very dangerous as it may brick the BB)

n.b: don’t check the “Unlock the iphone in QPWN”

reset the network data

and wow….working 3g and edge detected and fully functional,
when signal drops, comes back again spontaneously in less than 30 seconds
all proplems that i had with every other rebel sim cards and 2.2.1 was gone
i think 2.2.1 also fails the rebel cards by some unknown way

If you have baseband 2.28.03 then you have nothing to worry about, just jailbrake it, youtube.com have very many solution how to jailbrake you’re iphone. Me instead have baseband 02.30.03 and i haven’t used my iphone as a phone like a 2 months for now and that pisses me very off, i realy hope that there comes a time, when i can unlock my iphone.

Try youtube and pess turbo sim

I have been through it all.
I bought my wife an iphone 3g with firmware 2.2.1 and base band 2.30.03.
-I found the previous version firmware on youtube, downloaded it and did a restored, then did a jailbreak. This allowed me to use cydia.
- On Cydia you can type in 3g fuzzyband and download a utility to downgrade your baseband from 2.30.03 to 2.28.00 right on the iphone (this only works if you have bootloader 5.8 or less. It will not work on 5.9).
I have bootloader 5.9 so I had to buy a sim card to unlock it. Mine is Gevey Turbo Sim 2+ and it works ok but not as good as my older iphone which is unlocked.

I have iphone 3g with 5.9 bootloader i went throught the google about downgrading the V2.2.1 to 2.2 and i sucessfully downgraded to 2.2.

BUt i still have the problem, can’t downgrade the model firmware and bootloader….

I don’t when will DEV team release their…. UNLOCK process as…APPLE is clever and it has still released V 3.0 Beta. and DEV is waiting for full release of V 3.0.

I am having the same issue…I was using a Turbo SIM in my Iphone and I accidentally upgraded to the 2.2.1 firmware with the baseband 2.30.03.

i think it will work on 2g and 3g doesnt matter the firmware. but what i do know is that they havent confirm if it actually work for the new firmware, which is 3.0.1 beta 3. well it about friday afternoon 4pm, still havent no word or where to download ultrasn0w. if any1 have anything please let me know. me email address is lovesvk@hotmail.com, thanks ahead dev team.
