iPhone Dev team is still struggling to get untethered Jailbreak for iPod Touch 2G. iPhone dev team has already released Redsnow Lite tethered jailbreak for iPod touch 2G 2.2.1 which is absolutely for Experts and there is no support from iPhone Dev team as well as the process of jailbreak is need to be done every time when you switch off/on your iPod Touch.
Even the process of jailbreaking iPod Touch 2G with Redsn0w Lite is too complex and you need to have knowledge of libusb on Mac. Well don’t worry now some one has already created automated version of redsn0w Lite which is very simple to use although it’s command line version only.

Try it. If it’s not safe, you’ll just need to restore (or maybe dfu mode).
Contrary to popular opinion, it’s *impossible* to brick your ipod touch. So don’t worry.
Be aware of using the gived method on Windows Vista 64bit – you need another version of libusb, this one disables your USB completely. You might not brick your iPod, but without mouse and keyboard, you get yourself a “bricked” computer :) At least I did for a while..
it works guys but it does not work on vista if you put your ipodtouch in sleep mode instead of turning it off you wont have too redo it everytime u turn it on
