Mozilla had started a experimental project Snowl on August, 2008. Snowl is which basically a prototype Firefox extension that integrates messaging into the browser, this messaging system is capable of pulling all the messages originating from any source like email servers, RSS/Atom feeds, web discussion forums, social networks, or other sources.

Initial Prototype of Snowl was designed to support RSS/Atom feeds and Twitter with Traditional Three pan view. After working on Snowl for couple of months yesterday Mozilla team has released Snowl 0.2.

Snowl 0.2 is now changed from three pan view to new river view with a new stream view for keeping track of messages in a sidebar while you do other things, the ability to send tweets, and support for multiple Twitter accounts. The stream view is a new way of tracking messages that opens in a sidebar and shows incoming messages as they are received.
