When it comes to system infected with malware, worms and viruses, the primary reason is un-updated system. From time to time, Microsoft and other software venders releases patches and updates to fix critical vulnerabilities, which could lead to remote code execution or other possible security issues. In order to make this easy for users, the concept of automatic updates has been evolved.
In automatic update mode you no longer required to check for updates, as the software itself connects to update server on every run, to check for possible updates. If there are any updates available, it will be downloaded in the background and installed without user intervention.
We also advocate automatic updates, but there are times when you do not want automatic updates, a reason could be, you are on slow or expensive internet collection and keeping updates on may result in running out of bandwidth or consuming entire bandwidth keeping zero bandwidth for other applications.
Other reason we could think of, you have important presentation ahead, and you don’t want to mess with your system. These are the few reasons to justify why one may not want automatic update.
