Introduced last week, the Samsung Galaxy Mini has just been spotted at an Indian online retailer ‘Flipkart’. Launched in India by the name of Galaxy Pop, the entry-level Android smartphone is available for pre-order for Rs. 8999( just around $200).
The Samsung Galaxy Pop S5570, estimated release date second week of Feb, Indian customers might be able to grab the Galaxy Mini as they pre-order. The latest edition by Samsung is powered by an ARM 600 MHz processor backed by Android 2.2 Froyo.
Furthermore, the mini-edition comes with a 3.14 inch QVGA touchscreen with 262K colors, 240 x 320 pixels resolution, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, TouchWiz v3.0 UI, Swype text input method and proximity sensor for auto-turn off.
Samsung Galaxy Pop has been unveiled in the Indian market at the same price range as the popular LG Optimus One, which will probably act as it main competitor. Moreover, the mini features a HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, along with a 160 MB of internal memory and microSD card for memory expansion upto 32GB.
Some other key features include: 3.5mm audio jack, DNSe sound enhancement, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, microUSB 2.0, GPS with A-GPS support and a digital compass.
The small-budget phone packs in a 3.2 megapixel with geo-tagging and video recording capabilities. The phone is quadband GSM 850/900/1800/1900 compatible while being powered by a standard Li-Ion 1200 mAh battery.
