Today WordPress has released WordPress 2.6.5 which fixes one of security problem and three bugs. This time its XSS exploit which has caused security issue in Wordpress 2.6.3. Interesting thing to note here is WordPress 2.6.4 is skipped this time to make it confusion free with fake wordpress 2.6.4 which got the way to several website.

Security Issue
1. XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith affects affects IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x
Bugs Fixes
1. Prevents accidentally saving post meta information to a revision
2. Prevents XML-RPC from fetching incorrect post types
3. Adds some user ID sanitization during bulk delete requests
It’s recommended that you should upgrade your wordpress 2.6.3 to WordPress 2.6.5.
In case you just want to patch security problem then just copy and replace wp-includes/feed.php and wp-includes/version.php from the 2.6.5 release package.
