Rumors are appearing online that Apple is in process of developing a touch-screen iMac. Digitimes reported that Apple has been sent samples by Sintek Photronics of projected capacitive touch panels to be featured on the latest iMac all-in-one PC. The source confirmed that Apple and Sintek Photronics have landed a deal to have some capacitive touch panels tested in iMac Computers.
Sintek is equipped with 5.3G generation production lines and also has a good chance of becoming a supplier for the new touch-based Macs. The process is however complex which makes the capacitive touch panels involving touch sensors being placed over it. Furthermore, the sensors are then covered with glass.
Patent Filings exposed that the iMac would boast a special hinge allowing the user to adjust their view for either traditional mouse and keyboard input or touch based input.
The new iMac is rumored to have a good vertical and horizontal viewing angle, and its projected capacitive touch panel will adopt a one-glass solution, which integrates the touch sensor and cover glass, to reduce thickness and weight
