Here is good news for iPhone & iPod Touch jailbreakers, iPhone dev team has released update Redsn0w, Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 1 to let you jailbreak iPhone 3G iOS 4.1 & iPod Touch 2G iOS 4.1. However if you want to unlock then you must stay away from Redsn0w 0.9.6 and wait for Pwnagetool 4.1.

This Beta version of Redsn0w 0.9.6 is for the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G at iOS  4.1 or 4.0. It uses the same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit that has been using since the 2.x days. It does not include the SHAtter exploit for iOS 4.2 & 4.1 developed by pod2g for obvious reason to keep it away from Apple’s hand.

Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 1 Supports

1. iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G only (for now)

2. Mac OS X x86 only (for now)

3. 4.1 or 4.0 firmware from Apple

4. Also supports 4.2 Beta firmware but many things are broken at a time.

    I have installed cydia tool sucessfully and installed repo666.ultrasn0w tool and inserted a Another Cariier SIM card but it showing searching….

    Is any thing to do from my side..

    Hmmm I was in the process of jailbreaking my friend’s iPod touch 2g 8gb Mc Model and when the DFU process was initiating , it kept getting stuck on waiting for reboot.

    Yes there are a lot of windows users waiting for that. LimeRa1n and Greenpois0n do not support Iphone/Ipodtouch 2g

    when i used 0.96 redsnow,….it jailbroke, but i had no phone app, it was gone, and cydia was all white the icon. can u help plz

    my iphone is 3G 16gb..it was stuck in recovery mode i have already restore and upgrade same thing appear still back to recovery mode.then i used the redsnow to jailbreak,and it jailbroke after the reboot/restart still same thing appear on screen…

    Note: This release WILL NOT help you to hacktivate or unlock your phone. You need to register iPhone UDID with Apple to get past the activation process. Therefore, DO NOT update to iPhone OS 4.1 Beta if you rely on an unlock, as upgrading will upgrade your baseband which will leave you locked.

    Please Note: There is no unlock tool available which can unlock iOS 4.1, you must wait for official announcement from iPhone Dev team if you are planning to unlock.

    I had to reboot at one stage then it got stuck on the apple logo…
