If you own an iPad and use the Skype iPhone app on it, you might face a few interface inconveniences. For instance you might experience the app to take up a lot of space or waste space in some cases. The reason for this is that Skype never intended the iPhone app for iPad. But that is soon going to be remedied.
This summer Skype will be releasing an application targeted at the iPad. It will be designed solely for the platform to give users a better interface and experience. Around that time Skype will also be releasing a new iPhone app which will be supporting v4.0 firmware features, at a minimum.
Skype’s Asia Pacific Vice President, Dan Neary, hinted that the new iPhone Skype app might include video chat. This ‘hint’ could very much be real because the next iPhone is rumored to have a front facing video camera. If Skype does not provide video chat, then some other application surely will; it would be wise of Skype to stay ahead of their competition.
Dan Neary also expressed his hope that in the future the iPad will feature a front facing camera so that a video chatting feature can be supported on that platform as well. Hopefully Apple will make it happen and let iPad users fully enjoy their future iPad devices.
